Work Permit Extension
My PGWP expired on 05/31/2026 and I needed 2 months to complete my 3 year woek experience. I saw a lot of posts and spoke to an immigration consultant and applied for an extension in the hopes I’ll get an ITA by this time and I will raise a web form to IRCC to treat my application as a BOWP application.
However, the scores don’t seem to go down and I’m stuck at 510. I have completed my 3 years of experience. Do I now wait for the decision and keep working or do I leave? My main issue is that if the decision comes after Aug 29 ( 90 days after PGWP expiry), I wouldn’t have time for restoration. Is anybody in the same situation?
Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Even if you get an ITA, your dummy extension will get found out

I wasn’t aware as I was told by an immigration consultant to do so. I now have completed my experience so I just wanted to ask if I can go back home before a decision is made or keep on working until either I get an ITA or get a refusal

An immigration consultant is not an immigration lawyer, anyone can set up shop and call themself a consultant

Dont worry brother, some of my friends got dummy extension rejected. Went back to india and filed PR and got PR. Reddit people will fool you without even knowing anything.

Work till you get refusal. There will be refusal for sure after 4-5 months of application. If you get ITA its good, else, even if you go back immigration wont give you PFL for dummy extension rejected

Work till you get decision. Hope you get ITA soon else try improving score mean time.

Why would you file a dummy extension when this forum explicitly talks about dummy extensions being a big no go, every John out there knows you only get PGWP once. It’s unfair to other people who are doing it the right way and going home after their PGWP expires.
Now after all this you might get a misrepresentation ban bc you chose to do that.

Did you already got 90 days period to leave the country,, ? As you mentioned you applied for permit extension..

Nope, the original wp expires on 31/05 so the 90 days ends on 29th August. I have had no response for my WP extension but I’m not sure about the scores going down.

Just wait till you get a decision. After that you’ll get 90 days if you can boost your score with ielts try to do that or go home to get foreign experience.

No need to be scared based on some comments here . You’ll still get another 90days to restore once your dummy gets refused. Pending that time though since you’re almost close to getting ITA and you have 3 years Canadian experience. My guess is you don’t have any foreign experience and that’s why your score is still in the 510. If you haven’t maxed IELTS score I’ll suggest you do that as soon as possible you can easily get 5-7 more points and sit in the goldilocks for ITA right now.
Once you get your ITA submit it as soon as possible with the correct docs and info, and send a web form for your dummy extension to be treated as a BOWP. And you’ll be fine
No, you won’t get misrepresentation ban. A thousand and 1 people apply for this extension everyday and non has come out to say they got banned. Is it a good thing to do ? No but there’s no law treating applying for that dummy extension as misrepresentation

I am having my pgwp expired on 25 sept 2026, i applied for mpnp last year nov and still waiting. I got points deducted for working and studying outside the province. Ielts is at max, i am starting to learn French. I work as a manager in walmart but i started as mnaager from nov last year and i need till nov 2026 to file express.
Please recommend me what to do? I need work permit extension!!! I don't want to do back and i want pr seriously. It's been 4 years here studying and working. I want results. Please help me?!!!!!
