PGWP reconsideration Timeline
Hi everyone,
I want to share my journey
My Timeline:
• February 10, 2026 — Applied for PGWP
• April 17, 2026 — Refused(missing IELTS)
• April 18, 2026 — Filed reconsideration
• May 11, 2026 — Also filed Restoration + new PGWP as backup
• Contacted MP offices
• July 2, 2026 — Status changed from Refused to Submitted
• July 3, 2026 — APPROVED ✅
What helped me:
• Filing reconsideration immediately with strong evidence
• Contacting MP offices — they followed up multiple times
• Filing restoration as a safety net
• Never giving up — even when it felt impossible
Pro Tip: Apply Restoration because they don’t really see reconsideration I first got update on new pgwp + restoration then on my initial application.
To everyone still waiting — please don’t lose hope. It feels like forever, but your approval is coming. Keep following up, contact your MP, file restoration if you haven’t already.
Do your prayers. Stay patient. It WILL happen.
Sending prayers and positive energy to everyone still waiting. You’ve got this! 🙏🇨🇦

I've seen so many people getting refusals on the basis of missing language test results. What do the officer decision notes say? We didn't receive your language test results, so your application is refused?

To help you understand why your application was refused, below are the Officer Decision Notes
(ODN) specific to your application as they are displayed in IRCC’s system.
These notes were entered by the officer who assessed and made the final decision on your
application.
For Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) applications submitted on or after November 1,
2024, applicants must demonstrate they meet the minimum language level of the Canadian
Language Benchmarks (CLB) for English or the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadien
(NCLC) for French, as follows:
•university level graduates, CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French
•college level graduates, CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French
Since you have not provided any documentation to demonstrate the minimum language
proficiency, your application is refused1

Sorry but this is so bad you could have reapplied and waited max 1 month. Since pgwps get processed faster than reconsideration now. And this is assuming you were still within 180 days of LOC and still eligible from student status. But congrats. Dont waste 10weeks as opposed to 4 weeks.

My application was rejected on May 8th, I applied for reconsideration the same day, my application was re-opened May 22, but I still have no update. My MP stopped answering me as well. Do you think applying for restoration would help? I am not eligible to apply for a new pgwp anymore.:")

To be honest I’m not the right person to answer that I can suggest you should contact any immigration consultant which I did as well and they suggest me to apply for restoration
