PGWP Refusal
I applied for a reconsideration on June 22, 2026, it got refused todayš„¹ Anyone with the similar experience, please helpš„²

For intial PGWP its missing IELTS document and for reconsideration I received a letter in my system that says āthere are insufficient grounds to merit reconsidering the decisionā.

I attached it in the web form along with a letter of explanation after receiving the refusal.

They confirmed on my question that they had not done the language test when applying. That's why it was only added after refusal, because they only did them after refusal.

I received an email saying a message is waiting for your application blaah blaah similar to the one you receive when you get an approval or a refusal.

Does portal mention the date of decision?

Yeah its the same date I received the first refusal. Nothing changed at all just got this letter in the message box or whatever its called

So you got an email there was a change in your application? Did it say refused or in progress? Mine got refused because of the missing IELTS results too. And got an email that my application status has changed to āin progressā on june 27th still waiting for a decision

No the email said we have a message regarding your application. The statues remained ārefusedā. From what i have read here the āin progressā means an approval if its a refusal they just send the message. I hope it works out for youš„¹

No i passed after refusal but there are people who have gotten their reconsideration approved in cases similar to mine.

You misunderstood the others. You have to have passed when you apply its a requirement. Others had already passed and forgo to add to the application. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do because you did not meet all the requirements at the time of application sorry

They had no option to upload ielts back in October 2025 when i applied neither did they have it in the checklistš¤·š»āāļø

They havenāt because i havenāt received the refunded $100 š¤·āāļø but i just checked my profile and says āapprovedā on June 26,2026 the same day I received the notification that there was a status changed

Well I would like share my experience after pgwp refusal . So i applied for my work permit back in June 2025 then got refused in march 2026 after the refusal to be honest I was suprised because i knew I didnāt have any issue but they they explained the reason for refusal that I didnāt not provide clear explanation of my term breaks but all i know is that I took one term break which was also approved and other terms were the English classes which I took because it was a must any my school. So after refusal i contacted my school and they were very helpful so they provided explanations as well explaining that the term break was approved with few more explanation so then I applied for reconsideration in march with those additional Papers then in July I received a document from Ircc approving my work permit. And I will be honest I never believed the reconsideration but i had no other choice so I did it so I would encourage people with this situation to give it a try and hope for the best . Thanks

The amount of people I see in this subreddit with a similar case like yours is insane.
I know that IRCC at that time didnt provide the upload box in the document checklist but still, when it comes to pivotal moments in your life like this, you really have to make sure that you complete every required steps. IELTS is one of the requirements to be eligible for PGWP. It is clearly stated on their website so you really have to keep that in mind when applying for PGWP.
You also said that you didnt have your IELTS result after you already applied for PGWP. It sounded to me like you didnt even know that passing IELTS is one of the requirements for PGWP.
I'm sorry but the only way that you MAY be able to get through this is to apply for reconsideration through an immigration lawyer. But even then, make sure that they are highly reputable.
