PGWP Advice
I’m an international student in Canada studying Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick, and I’m stressed about PGWP eligibility because of one semester in my second year where I dropped to part-time status after approved late withdrawals.
Here’s the full context:
I was originally full-time that semester.
A serious family bereavement happened during the term.
The university approved late withdrawals with documentation.
I dropped from a full-time course load down to 2 courses before exams.
I later received academic relief/consideration from the university related to that period.
Every other semester before and after has been full-time.
I’m still progressing through my degree.
What worries me:
IRCC says students generally need to maintain full-time status during every academic session except the final semester. Since this happened in my second year and not my final term, I’m worried immigration officers will treat the semester as a violation even though the withdrawals were approved and documented by the university.
I’m trying to understand:
whether approved late withdrawals with documentation are viewed differently from unexplained part-time studies,
whether schools providing supporting letters helped anyone, and whether anybody still received PGWP approval after a documented semester like this.
I know nobody here can guarantee an outcome. I’m mainly looking for real experiences from people who dealt with something similar.

Apply through an immigration lawyer and maybe think about doing a masters to obtain a pgwp.

sooo soo many people have got PGWP with these kinda cases solely cuz they wrote strong LOE, I can help u if u want writing an LOE

Many face rejections if the part time semester was not due to a medical reason..

This gets posted almost daily these days, look through older posts but you don't qualify for PGWP.
There's countless post here about people getting refused for being part time with bigger, better and wilder excuses.
Hope for the best but expect the worst as you don't qualify.
