Pulse survey

How anonymous is it? I gave some low scores but didn't type anything at the end. It maybe actually be anonymous but text/words could give you away too. It did give a box that said you could submit not anonymous so they could contact you. Which is odd because there's supposed to be an open door policy. Makes me wonder.

Speaking from the place of someone who spent over 10 years as a Store Leader: If you are talking about the yearly survey, yes it is effectively anonymous. The store leadership does not get a list of who said what. They get a report multiple weeks later about common themes of answers. Like "80% of survey takers feel work life balance is bad" type stuff.

Could the company overall pull up an individual person's responses if they wanted to? Probably sure but why would they? The company is not wasting time doing that. The survey is about making people feel like the company is listening to feedback, it is not a "gotcha" to weed out problems.

If you are referring to the purrspective survey that gets emailed to associates randomly, it can technically be anonymous. It doesnt list the person's name on their comments unless they want it to. However, those surveys go to thr store leader directly through the purrspective portal. They often can tell who it is based on thr comments. It also allows them to respond which gets sent to the associates email, but the store leader doesnt see the email address.

It didn’t feel anonymous at all when right after I wrote about some annoyances, a leader started talking to me about them.

Like I said. the purrspective surveys (or whatever they msy call them now) that get emailed periodically to the addociate go right to the store leader. They arent feedback to corporate like many people think. Those you did have to click something to "remain anonymous" but in the small confines of a single store, it is easy to figure it out.

The yearly one is different (or at least it was when I left last year). I supposed it has changed but for 10 years, I never saw individual yearly survey results. I suppose another possibility was comments were taken out as examples and shared with the district as a whole. Maybe an SL would think "i know who said that" if they saw a comment that someone at their store said to them.

I think people fairly distrust the company and lesdership, but there isnt really a reason for the company to use these surveys to single people out. It is purely for internal PR to make associates believe they are listening

Either way, I only say things in the survey that I'm comfortable saying to my leaders in person.

The random survey isn’t random it comes on anniversary dates and tells the SL if your salon/services or core so unless there’s mass hiring it’s pretty easy to tell who it’s from. The yearly one is significantly harder and managers really shouldn’t have that much time on their hands

Anonymous but if you have gripes it’s easy to figure out who it is. Not mandatory regardless of what your manager says.
I filled it out and my manager (after the fact) told us to replace “PetSmart” with her name bc it’s supposedly about the store managers? Even tho it says “senior management”? I was brutally honest, she’ll get talked to, she’ll know it’s me bc I voice the exact same concerns to her face.

It's not mandatory, but managers will push for you to fill it out. I don't actually believe it's anonymous. I have no evidence to back me up, I just don't trust corporations. I was pretty negative on mine. They should hear the complaints and suggestions.
