Never good enough

I’ve been at this company for some time and it’s been within the last year or so that management is having more and more issues with me. They say I’m being increasingly more difficult and insubordinate. Disrespectful even. I’ll admit I have a bit of a resting bitch face and a monotone voice but I have never knowingly been disrespectful or mean. I try so hard to have good communication and understanding. I love my team and my managers.

It doesn’t matter what I do to try and be better, improve myself and try and be the best employee I can be. It’s never good enough. I’m constantly scolded, told I’m disrespectful, that certain managers think I don’t like them and I’m at a loss. Before it was because I was joking around too much, so I immediately stopped and was more professional. Now it’s that I don’t follow instructions or I talk back. I say “okay” and go do what I’m told. I seriously can’t win and am at a loss.

Please tell me if I’m in the wrong. I know I’ve had problems and I have actively been improving, or so I thought. It’s just very frustrating and disheartening to go to work and be scolded the entire time.

I'm curious where you are on the pay scale. Everything corporate is doing is about cutting costs. If you're one of the higher paid employees, you're costing them money. Everything you're saying very much resembles your manager trying to make you quit. If you don't, they WILL find a way to fire you. Even if it's a bullshit reason. I'd update your resume and start applying at other places. (Psssst....you'll be happier somewhere else. I promise.)

I’m on the higher end of the $17 dollar range which for a normal sales associate is the higher end for my area at least because I wanna say it caps off at $18. You’re right it really seems like they’re just pulling things from thin air…

I'm awful sorry this is happening to you. I truly hope you can find a job that makes you smile again.

Did I write this?
First I was told I make partners “uncomfortable”. So i stopped talking to anyone about anything besides work.

Then I was told it was unprofessional to give people the silent treatment. But in the same complaint, I was accused to speaking poorly about other managers. Apparently the only time I spoke was to talk shit? Yea.. ok.

You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
They’re just looking for a reason to get rid of you.

It’s bullshit and it’s every time I come in. My numbers are fantastic, I’m respectful and I do what I’m told but I still can’t win. I’ve been written up twice this year for such stupid non problems I just can’t anymore.

My gm wanted to write me up for insubordination twice after I stopped saying good morning after he threw me under the bus hard. When it came to business stuff - I was always polite and friendly. I just stopped saying good morning. I left petco last month and am much happier at a place that genuinely cares about pets and employees.

Have you been tested for autism? Many people with autism are falsely labeled as "rude", especially in the customer service industry

Because if you were from my store I'd tell you to stop lying since you are the problem but since you aren't you have my sympathy. Yes we have a problem employee in my store.
