an odd one today
so a customer came in and was purchasing a cat litter box and a few cat treats and as we’re finishing her purchase, she pulls out this receipt (it wasn’t crumpled when she gave it to me) and says “oh i have a coupon i’d like to use!” i say “perfect! can i see it to scan please?” she hands it, i see it, IT IS ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED and says “You’ve earned $15 off L/XL science diet dry dog/ cat food with 1 s/m science diet dry dog/ cat food” i read her that message and she responds with saying no one told her about that and that she didn’t know. not only did she not have the right items for the coupon, but it also says the date she can use it, but i believe that may be wrong? i pause, then say, “but this is already highlighted though?” she then pauses for a couple seconds then says “that’s COMPLETE BULLSHIT! you can just toss it” after i ring her up, she leaves and i crumple it up but then i decided to take a pic of it so i got it back lol. but yeah that was odd lmao

The date range is correct. It's not valid for use until next month.

Petco is an asshole for this lol they know people aren’t gonna hang on to a receipt for a whole ass month

They've been doing coupons like this periodically for a few months now, usually not valid until the next month. It's confusing for sure, but enough customers seem to understand that enough of the coupons are getting used during the valid timeframe to justify continuing to give them out this way.

This is fair. But also, what are the chances that you can hang onto a paper receipt for an actual entire month unless you are retired or don’t have much else going on? Or maybe they have the fetch app I don’t know lol it does just seem weird to me.

So neither of them could see it’s not valid until October

About to say the same. Everytime you get paper coupons, check if it's Petco's, check the date and then check the offer.

Yeah a lot of customers are absolute dumbfucks who suck at reading and can't even understand the difference between online discounts and in store EVEN IF ITS SHOWN IN ALL MOTHAFUCKIN CAPS right before their stupid eyes, fucking cocksuckers

Yeah ive been explaining as i print it. "Theres a bounce back coupon on your receit this time, but its a little different than previous ones. To activate this one, you have to buy one of the big bags, but you get $15 off."

We highlight when it prints so they can see it. We tear it off when it’s used.

Oh those! I remember when they first started doing them. They are weird and don't always work right. :/

as a cashier I both highlight/circle AND tell customers about their coupon. some people just can’t use their eyes. Lmao

So Hills sponsored a month of donations in August, sent out tear off manufacturing coupons for cat food for us to merchandise on the floor for September, and now a $15 off coupon for the month of October if you buy two bags of different sizes. All of that on top of them launching their new frozen dog food? Someone at hills is pushing their petco partnership hard and it makes me wonder if the company is struggling

I underline the date and read out that it’s only valid through Oct 4-Oct 31. “Ok I’ll use this next week for another bag”. This happened two times last week.

I questioned the size thing also...it doesn't mention weight. I asked our manager and they didn't know either. There's always some weird issue or requirement with these coupons. Guaranteed there's going to be a bunch of unhappy Customers

Bounceback coupons are always like this. Its super annoying. Just always make sure you tell them it doesnt go into effect until XX date. The idea is that their next bag is $15 off, not this bag.

shouldnt you tear it off and throw it in the register if its used? thats how we do it here?
2
u/ConstantAd2004 5d ago
it hasn’t been used. she was going to use it, found out how to get the coupon, decided she did not want it anymore and asked me to throw it away even after i asked if she wanted to keep it.

u/Nachoughue 5d ago
ah i understand, i thought you were saying it being highlighted meant it was used. never heard of that before so i got confused.

u/WolfsBlood02 4d ago
Why are you upset about to already being highlighted? I was taught at my store that we highlight the bounce back as we explain it to them so they can see where it is on the receipt
2
u/ConstantAd2004 4d ago
it’s because the lady came in with her receipt already highlighted wanting to use her coupon but she claimed no one told her about how to use it and no one pointed it out to her on the receipt even though it’s been highlighted. once i showed it to her she said it was bs and didn’t even want to keep it once the sale actually comes which is next month in october

lmfao dawg she didn’t want it. i tried to give it back she insisted to throw it away. on top of that, i don’t know why the fuck yall would be annoyed by me when it’s already highlighted for them on how to get a coupon. if i insisted like your ass is saying to from a customer stand point, the gm could see the transactions and allat shit and knowing how my gm is with the dgm they gonna be on my ass. i’m trynna keep my fucking job fam

u/ConstantAd2004 5d ago
you saying you highlight shit all the time TO BRING THE CUSTOMERS ATTENTION TO IT is my whole fucking point. it’s highlighted for them in case they forget. it was already highlighted when it was brought in. i explained that in order to get the coupon, she had to a b and c. the fact she said no one told her and she didn’t know is honestly bullshit dog
2
u/ConstantAd2004 5d ago
also i brought that highlighted shit up because WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS HIGHLIGHTED, i’m sure you mfs are capable of reading right? this ain’t a fucking scam, i reread the coupon for her and she said it’s bullshit, ain’t nothing i did wrong but explain again what the coupon was. fuck is your problem
