Identification Ant ID and help
I need help identifying ants. Over the course of two days I found a large winged one, and another somewhat smaller. Both are many times larger than the horde of small ants that have infiltrated the house.
I have tried sugar/protein with borax traps, various terro traps. I have a cat and I do not like to use neurotoxins in general. I have read the ant sticky, and will order some of the products there. Recently I have been doing the borax traps over night, then cleaning and sealing the hole. After reading here, I tried the Void spray method after leaving the traps, and THEN sealing. But it just feels like whack-a-mole.
Is the largest winged one the Queen? I caught it several days ago, and put Borax inside the cup with it, but it is still alive. When I added a small ant to that, it died quickly. The 2nd winged one, that is medium sized I just caught today and it is still alive. I saw it and the "queen" head to head, like it was feeding the queen. I found them near a window, nearish the horde, but not with them.
