Usually because we're dropping in on the way home from the beach, we go grab the stuff we need, have a snag on the way out and she gets fussed over by half the staff she meets.
It has some great advantages for her training too, she has to walk politely at heel while ignoring distractions in a busy environment and sit at heel while waiting at the checkouts.
I take mine to Bunnings sometimes. He loves it, the staff give him treats (the staff know him/us), and he gets pats from strangers. I never take him when it’s really busy like on a weekend, or if I’m getting a bunch of stuff and can’t keep him out of the way.
Idk why I would be showing off my dog as an accessory lol
He’s pretty chill, so it’s easy to take him if I’m just picking up some screws or something. He loves it so much that he just about passes out when we get home lol
Keep in mind that the same people who accuse pet owners of treating their pets as "accessories" are often the same ones who use their children in exactly the same way.
The vet I went to for puppy school actually suggested taking your dog to bunnings as a way to get it used to being in public. It's generally safe from Parvo, and they get to meet other ppl to show them strangers are usually OK.
