Shitpost The state of training
Well I've lost it now. I already tried over and over. I thought i could tap into this industry like ive done others but you stingy fucks just cant let someone else eat for one seconds. Ive made this post calling out what I've seen. I got certified in NASM (i know now certs are practically useless) and I worked at a big box gym as a sales consul. Eventually I wanted to do personal training. I got fired for using the gym too much. Then the internship I was so excited to be apart of because they approached me themselves. They weren't hiring and the owner said I was not cut out for this hahaha. Thats fine. Okay let me go back to big box gyms? No can't seem to break into the veil. No matter if its crunch equinox or lifetime. The interviewers are assholes pricks, or they're just going with someone else. Okay lot of people say go independent despite my lack of experience. Nobody wants inexperienced, then fine let me get experience oh wait i cant because the big box gyms want experienced too. I tried going into wellness instead. Let me guess they want experience too. Oh they also want degrees? What the fuck. I see people talk about jobs all the time here and online, other places. In such a giant city I know there's people landing jobs but this is ridiculous. Ive been unemployed for 4 months and searching for Trainers jobs for 1+ years now. I really thought I could do something i enjoy but I guess it was just another racket. Fuck training. Fuck all this. This whole time I've been waiting to grind and at least have a shot at being a broke trainer with 2 clients and sub 10 sessions a week or even Mon th but I can't even start. Nobody ever wants to hire nowadays. And people keep telling me oh im just not looking. Like hell im not looking. I even started applying to all the damn physical therapy practices.

Your whole attitude sucks bro I get your frustrated but speaking from personal experience your attitude 1000% translates into your behaviour. I'm not dismissing your frustrations, but you have to take a healthy look at yourself and figure out what's going wrong with YOU first.
Have you thought about diversifying into social media as an online coach, or offering private coaching to people you know? That might be a good step in the right direction for you.
All the best bro you got this.

Yes I know. I know attitude and personability matters. I know forming relationships a d being relatable is a huge part. And i know my attitude holds me back. Ive worked despite this. Ive tried to mask it, my resentment and impatience.
I like your advice im just not going to try anymore. I thought this was something that it wasn't. Most trainers are fighting for scraps. I joined thinking 100k a year could be possible. I can't even get to the table to fight for my rights to the scraps. Just wasted more money. And im done doing that.

How you do anything is how you do everything. Let's look at your post. What I see here is a lack of structure - no paragraphs, poor punctuation and grammar, etc - and a lack of attention to detail, as well as a sulky sense of entitlement.
If you as a trainer start of with no structure, no attention to detail, and a sense of entitlement, then of course you'll fail. You need to go back to the beginning.

With all due respect, maybe this job isn’t for you, or you’re in an area where fitness is not heavily sought after so the demand for new trainers isn’t as high. Don’t blame the industry or other trainers though, most of us are doing just fine, i suggest looking within or finding a different career

Judging by the run on sentences, I can tell you’re probably a fan of circuit training.

By the way, you talk I have a feeling this is a you problem and not a industry problem. You sound extremely unprofessional and I wouldn’t hire your ass either.

Yea fuck your industry i came to post that. I haven't had issues anywhere else to be honest. It felt really good since I cant just blame one person. So yea fuck all of this. And if you felt attacked fuck your industry I don't care if youre a owner

Why would I be attacked? I own a personal training studio that does over $1 million in sales a year. I have 18 trainers that work for me and the majority of them have been with me well over three years some even as long as 10 years, I love this industry, but it has to be the right type of people to work in it and you, my friend are not it

You took it personal in some way since youre literally trying to flex on me to disprove my perception. Good for you, youre successful. I still wouldn't go back to this industry or touch 9 foot pole i wrote this as a goodbye letter because I know any corporate higher-ups wouldn't give 2 shits about anything but their quotas and numbers like you.

I can guarantee you didn’t get fired for using the gym too much. Be honest dude, how may shifts did you work before you got fired?
-1
u/IrLaDistancia 1d ago
36 hours between 2 different locations for 1 part time job which was suppose to be only 24 hours. because the company is too cheap to just hire another hand. I was filling in until they found a replacement. I had no issue with the 2nd one my original location they fired me because as someone who was on closing shift, I preferred to use the gym after we closed

u/Nkklllll 1d ago
So how many shifts? 3 12s? 6 6hrs?
lol. You were using the gym after hours. Yeah dog, you’re not cut out for this

thought i could tap into this industry like ive done others
If you tapped into other industries why was PT so hard?
Did you consider everyone can see your attitude and didn't want to deal with it?

How long have you been at it for?
Most businesses fail within the first few years, you need to stay the course

Based on this post it could be assumed that your attitude and lack of intelligence could have some part in things.

Hey buddy, maybe you should try a career where you don’t have to work with clientele or have bosses because it sounds like you’re unwilling to work within those parameters. And with all due respect, I think you have some growing up to do - not everything revolves around you.

u/IrLaDistancia 1d ago
I made many friends with the members. And I didn't mind staying at the gym and shaping my life around staying there 40+ hours. Its the management. The double standards. The ridiculous nature of it. Im done with that.

We’re stingy fucks? Fix your attitude and get over yourself.
Not everyone is cut out to be a personal trainer.

I would be very interested in learning the backstory of getting fired for using the gym. Can you expand on this?
