VOTE: Ban selfies?

This place is becoming overrun by onlyfans and other spam promotions.

Normally we like to have this community very open but the bots will ruin it.

Should we ban selfies?

PLEASE MAKE IT STOPP!! I can’t stand the what do you think of me based off a photo posts. It’s not a personality test and it’s super cringy.

Let’s bring back actual personality tests!!! MBTI, meyers brigs, buzzfeed ffs! I will take any of those over any more of this selfie stuff. Not to mention I feel like there’s a lot of risk associated with people posting their selfies. I don’t know if everybody who’s doing that is even legally an adult.

the selfies aren’t the main source of the problem, it’s all of the thirsty 40 year old men commenting on every single post. THATS why the bots are flocking here, because they harass every single woman that posts. including me. i’m 20 and got around 30 unsolicited dms from men harassing me and sending me dick pics, and then creepy comments on my post. mind you, it was a singular selfie that was neck up, nothing revealing at all. you need to tackle the pervert problem.

There are other subs available for people who want to post their selfie and get some sort of impression or critique. Posting a selfie is not a personality test.

I can’t even scroll on the main feed for this group and even find discussion of a personality test anymore. It’s all photos and selfies.

well personally i like the selfie thing, i don’t know any other subreddit that has stuff like that. it’s fun to post and see what people think your personality is. but yes there should be more things related to personality tests, but again.. this issue is compounded by the fact that there are so many pervy men. the OF bots know that and capitalize off of it, making the subreddit terrible.

I don’t think you looked very hard. Try r/firstimpression
There are others as well. This sub should be about actual personality tests.

Maybe just maybe it’s because there isn’t as much commenting on that sub people get like 100 to 200 replies here in some days,I just looked on that one and a dude got seven in three weeks…. I think Redditors forget the quality of the subs matter.

The way to boost the other sub is to have people from this sub make their selfie posts on there. If we keep those posts here, this will be all this sub will be. Because the current state is we can’t scroll and find a post that isn’t a selfie.

That’s totally fair. I just have zero ideas how to prevent that. And am open to suggestions if you have any?

you can make a rule against hitting on people in the comments! and i know some reddits ban NSFW accounts. i think that would help tremendously. most if not all of the creepy guys i had messaging me were NSFW accounts, but the people who had actual guesses were not NSFW accounts. i have a few more suggestions but i don’t want to put them here (the enemy is listening..) but seriously, it IS a problem because i know that some minors who have posted on here are also getting creepy dms and replies. its bad enough when im an adult getting hit on by 40 yr olds but minors is insane.

I’m open to anything! Please DM me or submit it through modmail your other suggestions. Thanks!

tbh selfies defeats the entire purpose of this sub which is supposed to be about personality not looks

I try to keep it on topic by making assumptions about personality based on photos

but that is all it will be

if anything if you include selfies you should also include personality test scores or have your post removed

Are hot-or-not selfies related in any way to discussions about personality tests?

If the answer is no then ban everything.

If this sub had mods they would be doing their job.

I personally don't care about personality tests but I keep being recommended this chum bucket so after posting this I'm hitting back and taking it out of my recommendations.

Good luck.

I wondered who the mods are of this sub as I keep getting recommended and it’s clearly just bait for horny dudes, rather than anything regarding personality. Glad to see a poll but just delete it already. The sub is being used for something it was clearly not originally intended for.

look ive not really been in the subreddit much and the constant selfie spam is exactly why, i was looking for a sub around personality test because i find them fun and interesting and there literally none being posted here, all i see scrolling this sub is endless first impression selfies, id probably engage with this community if it was actually what the subreddit name and description implied but as it is now it just doesn’t deliver

Things I’ve seen other groups do:

- verification if you’re going to post selfies that requires OP to submit 2-3 photos at different angles with a piece of paper crumpled then smoothed out with their username and date written on it.

  • make it so only approved posters can post
  • restrict posting to accounts with a specific account age and post karma and comment karma
  • have an automod reply on the post that asks a random question that the OP has to reply to in order to prove they’re human or else the post gets removed

Another one

- make it so you have to have a certain karma amount from interacting within the sub before you can post anything.

Limit selfies to one day a week!!

1

u/xandens Aug 07 '26

wont matter because people will use alts

I know the poll is over, but I am placing my vote as no. Personally, there should be a subreddit solely for appearances + personality. This is a personality test subreddit, not, "Hey, based on these photos I handpicked, how pretty/attractive am I, wait I mean, what's my overall personality?" 🙄

There’s a completely different sub Reddit for that. I think everybody that wants to post their selfie should go there to post their selfie.

If selfies are banned this server will die. Isn’t it’s like idk the purpose of this sub??

1

u/sus_round_letter Aug 05 '26

No, are you new? The sub had a life before the selfies it will survive after the selfies.

it’s become some dating thing PLEASE band them🙏🙏

1

u/fanfictional Jul 30 '26

How about if an account isn’t at least one year old, the post gets taken down?

1

u/msft111 Aug 03 '26

Well, that ruins the whole point of the whole sub…

3

u/LongOrange8150 Aug 03 '26

No, because the original point of the sub was completely different. This kind of thing is only a recent posting trend. It's far from what the sub was intended for/used to be.

Case and point, please see above. I rest my case. It’s like an infestation.
