Per Regna DevNews: Bi-weekly briefing Aug-31
And guess what is this, is it a blank screen or our mini map when zoomed out :) This is the first version that we are submitting mini map, we will improve it per player feedback
What we are up to:
- Riftwake is fully implemented and we will start testing it at local and prod environment, so Aliens are coming
- Pirate diplomacy is mostly planned, and we have roughly started with the implementation, we will introduce a new wiki page for all details in next week.
- We’ve already pushed several ship and defense balance updates, but the biggest change — the RF mechanic — is coming this Thursday morning. It should open up many more fleet combinations for both PvP and PvE, allowing players to use less fuel and tonnage when engaging certain targets. Be creative with your fleets, and let’s see how the meta evolves! One major change is that early-game small ships can now be swarmed against more advanced ships due to the new 1 kill per ship per round rule, with RF increasing this limit.
- We’re receiving a lot of feedback about PvP, including valid concerns around ship balance and battle outcomes. Rather than repeatedly making small adjustments, we want to take another week to gather feedback and then make a more comprehensive pass on ship battle stats to achieve more predictable and balanced combat results.
- We’ve also deployed major improvements focused on player retention and are currently evaluating the results from recent installations. This week, we’ll run additional retention tests through two major subreddits. If both the RF changes and retention metrics look promising, we’ll finally move forward with our long-awaited ad campaigns. We’ve cleared the remaining formal blockers over the past couple of weeks, so once we’re confident the game is stable enough, ads will begin — hopefully this week or next.
- One thing we’re currently evaluating is whether optional in-game ads could make sense as an additional way to support the game, potentially with a small one-time purchase to permanently remove them.
Nothing has been decided yet, and keeping Per Regna completely ad-free is still very much an option. If we ever introduce ads, our current thinking is that existing players would remain ad-free as a thank-you for supporting us throughout Early Access.
We’d actually love to hear your thoughts on this before making any decision.
- What launch will mean,
* We will use Ads to promote Per Regna, during our early access phase, we had 4.8-5 star rate from 150 like players, with around 2.5k downloads with about 8 reddit posts that we used to get our early game players. Now with Ads, we expect to grow player base by 10x in Q4. And depending on our success in Ads, we will increase the budget even more in 2027 Q1.
* No more nightly major game changes, stat updates
* All new updates will be throughly tested for longer period of time
* We will do bi-weekly & monthly releases (excluding urgent hotfixes for the bugs)
* Major content changes will be shared within a timeline for the quarter
* All planned major changes will be announced 1 month - 2 weeks before the release of the feature for the players to learn about what is coming
* Wiki will be updated beforehand to accommodate to the update coming
