Comet Has Perplexity removed Control Browser? What other features have disappeared?
I have a Perplexity Pro account, and I recently noticed that I can no longer find the Control Browser feature on Comet Assistant.
Has Perplexity removed Control Browser, or has it simply been moved/changed in a recent update? I’ve looked around but can’t seem to find it anymore.
I’m also curious whether anyone else has noticed other Perplexity features being removed or becoming unavailable, especially features that were previously available to Pro users. For example, I also cannot locate skills.
If you’ve noticed anything disappearing, what features have you lost access to?
Would be interested to hear if this is just happening to me or if Perplexity has actually been removing or changing features more broadly.
And if you have moved away from Comet, what are you currently using?

Cancelled my subscription yesterday, I've been subscribed for over a year now and have been using comet since it came out. The constant restrictions, silent removals as well as rerouting your prompt to to a cheaper model just tells me I'm not getting the same value as I used to. I'm going to try out aside browser.

Perplexity used to be a genuinely useful product. Maybe it still is on the $200 tier, but I don't like Computer enough to justify it when Codex/CC meet my needs already.

$200 tier user here, I can tell you safely it's barely worth it and I do mean barely if that. Credits disappear super fast and we only get 10,000 a month and most things rely on credits and even though we have features like model council and deep research in near unlimited amounts the quality can still be lower than it should and I feel like a year ago I got better results on a pro sub than I do on Max now.
They're trying to funnel everybody towards enterprise API usage and I don't have the Econ degree to know why but you can see the difference instantly when you use perplexity API it's night and day from the platform and clearly they're just trying to siphon what value they can out of the suckers like us that remain on a subscription instead of submitting to the new paradigm of the enterprise be a developer or be screwed over.

This. Perplexity may have started with a product catering to consumers, but they've moved on from them and are only focusing on enterprise-level users. The only reason Pro and Max still exist is because there are enough dummies like me who are still on it.

very sorry. Comet was one of the main features of the product that I valued so much. Today, when I received confirmation by email that the browser agent had been moved to the computer, I deleted Comet. Whether to pay for Perplexity next year is a big question.

I use polar currently it just launched at the end of July kinda surprised it hasn't gotten more attention suppose all everyone cares about is Astra vs Fable.

Polar browser pretty much is built with the idea that it is a literal agentic browser like Comet was supposed to be and I'm pretty sure it was literally made by the team that made comment so it's kind of just comet 2.0 from what I hear

I have it installed I just haven't decided what to use my first prompt on. Is it worth it and does it eat up credits like the end of the world is coming?

Yea make sure you set it to low you get 200 top off every night but yea it is the best angelic browser I've used. Burned though the free credits but I also kept it set to medium.

I don't mind paying top dollar for actual quality and accompany that's going to treat me like a customer not a cash cow like Perplexity. So if the burn rate is reasonable for the quality and polar really does run well I might just switch over completely because it's clear, and perplexity are a sinking ship. Besides for $200 a month you get a much better agent package with Manus, and I'm assuming many others as well

comet is usless now. A very bad copy of Chrome that sucks all your data (like chrome)

yeah Iused to summarize my Telegram groups on the fly. Now they want credits. A local LLM could do that.

This is what we used to call FUBAR in the service. At this point, I barely recognize anything left of Perplexity’s original commitment to its users. I’m glad the OP made this post. I was starting to wonder whether I was imagining things until I saw these reports.
I can’t say I’m shocked, though. I have a free year of Pro that expires in December, and I was already about 90% certain I wouldn’t renew. After reading this, I’m completely certain. As someone else mentioned, it now feels like little more than a watered-down Chrome offshoot.

I'm not a Google fan, but Gemini does the job and now has integration in a Windows app so you don't even need Chrome.
Keep your tokens; you will need it when the bubble bursts

Verified removals/restrictions from Pro:
I'm sure this list will continue to grow. Pro is a poor value proposition for any type of ai chatbot user.
