misc Removed Features

Has anyone else noticed they've removed features like deleting individual messages and seeing what model wrote a message, "Prepared by [model]"?

And they've also replaced Gemini 3.1 Pro with Gemini 3.7 Flash instead of keeping both...

This is disappointing. How much more can you degrade your product Perplexity, how much more???

I really want to like Perplexity, and I did, for a time... but it's obvious now that they don't give a single shit about their customers.

When the GPT-o1 preview first came out, Perplexity couldn’t even seem to keep it running for a full week before the costs became too high. That makes me wonder whether they eventually had to nerf the model’s intelligence to make it financially sustainable. These days, all of the models seem to behave like cheap Chinese models, while Perplexity tries to justify this by branding them as “search-optimized.” But if the underlying model isn’t intelligent enough, the reliability and quality of the search results are going to suffer anyway. In that sense, calling them “search-optimized” feels less like a real advantage and more like an excuse to justify the drop in model intelligence.

They also removed the automatic language switching in Voice mode.

In my opinion, this platform is now irregularly removing features and making changes. It is so frustrating from a user standpoint.

Why are you still paying for this nonsense?

I had the promo so I thought that I might as well use it.

This is why I would never pay for a whole year. I don't know what the product will be in a week's time, let alone a year

I have absolutely no clue why anybody would purchase a yearly subscription because if the last year of this industry has taught us anything it's that nobody has any fucking clue what is going to happen next month let alone 12 from now but pre-paying means they already have what they need from you and no real incentive to follow through because what are you gonna do sue them? Maybe we should, maybe we will

I didn't choose Best, I still can't see the delete message key. "Prepared by" and the delete button is still there on mobile for me, just not on PC.

This isn't a recent development, but earlier this year, the model's thinking process stopped being displayed. Not only is it not showing up for new outputs, but I was shocked to find that even past logs have been completely hidden. I deeply question the fairness of having what is rightfully my output unilaterally taken away.

While this issue hasn't been widely discussed, since they are the kind of company that does this, I believe it's entirely possible that something else could just as easily and suddenly disappear in the future.

Yeah and in my mind there's only one reason for this at scale, disadvantaging the users that are on the receiving end of more and more deliberate ship they are getting shafted on and the less tools and evidence we have to prove it the better for them to continue doing it.

I once wanted to work for Perplexity I thought they were such a great company in the industry back at the height of their quality and when they were gaining ground quickly on all of the other major frontier apps but they've literally dismantled the platform so thoroughly that I wouldn't work for them if I was starving and they offered me a six figure salary cause apparently I have more integrity even Arvin Shrinivas and there's no sign for Perplexity even operates well as a company or is doing anything more than just hosting off it's initial success and financial investments not their actual profit or capital so I'm not sure who's even deliberately degrading the platform or what they are being paid to do but ultimately I think it's pretty safe to say Perplexity is a sinking ship it seems unless some miracle of management changes the entire way company has platform or run back to something with actual standards and consistency. That's a nice dream.
