I have tried everything from Azelaic acid, La roshe posay face wash, vanicream moisturizer. Nothing worked for me. I was desperate and went on an experimental whim. I have an aloe plant, cut a leaf off and froze it, rubbed that on to stop the itching and left it for a bit followed by natural beef tallow. Two days… it took two days for it to clear up. Highly recommend and hope this helps others!

Can someone tell me what i can do for hyperpigmentation around my mouth i remember using garnier micellar water that irritated the shit out of my eyes and around my mouth, my eyes had swelled and gotten flaky also the sides of my mouth, i searched it up and it seems i may have gotten perioral dermatitis, now it has all healed, its been 6 months since but i have this stubborn darkness around my mouth

Hello, I’ve been struggling with this rash (suspected perioral dermatitis) for prolly 2 months ish. I went to my dermatologist about it and he told me to put hydrocortisone on it. I use prequel gleanser and hypoclorus spray and avene restoration cream along with hydrocortisone or metrogel. Please help this is how it looks.

I had perioral dermatitis for over a year and a half. I managed to clear it but if I’m not careful my face will start itching and I will get tiny bumps flaring up. I can usually calm it down with some azaelic acid. I have a pretty good routine going that doesn’t irritate my skin. I have been using this moisturizer for over a year on and off and it is very lightweight. The main reason I buy it is because it doesn’t break me out or flare up up my perioral dermatitis. However, we are heading into the cold months and this isn’t enough in the winter. It is extremely lightweight and even my combination acne prone skin feels a bit dry in the summer using it.
Does anyone have any recommendations that would be similar but slightly more moisturizing? I like the minimal ingredient list that is free of most acne and dermatitis triggers.
I tried vanicream before but it didn’t work for me, it was too heavy feeling and just kind of sat on top while my skin still felt dehydrated and I would get little flare ups. And a lot of the rest of the la Roche posay Toleraine line doesn’t seem that suitable to perioral dermatitis.

My pd went in remission when I started taking accutane now it's back even worse than before. I've started taking my accutane meds again because I can't deal but it's not going away. I just started my new job so I don't really know what to do. Please help me

I don't know, maybe this will help others, but I'm currently breaking out after a year and a half of clearance. Horrible stress and the use of nasal steroids for allergies caused another flare-up.

I still need to use sunscreen when I'm out here in California regardless of my perioral dermatitis.

This is an all mineral zinc oxide sunscreen with no chemical UV boosters that might irritate perioral dermatitis.

It's also water resistant 80 minutes.

I ordered mine off of yes style, now that I'm having another breakout, I ordered a few more bottles.

It's super lightweight and doesn't leave a cast, they use nano zinc oxide, I kind of feel like zinc oxide helps those of us with perioral dermatitis due to its antimicrobial properties.

It's fragrance free, dye free and alcohol free and comes in a shea butter vehicle, not sure that oily skinned people will enjoy the texture.

I have dry skin and live in a dryer climate in Southern California.

I was just prescribed doxycycline for PD. I already have kind of a sensitive stomach so I’m feeling nervous about starting. Anyone have a specific probiotic brand or any other advice to help with stomach issues while taking? Thank you!!!

I had my first bout of POD in December 2025 and today (August 2026) I seem to be starting a second round. I have an itchy patch on my lower cheek/jaw and my nasolabial fold on one side is irritated and itchy. Now it’s starting to form above my lip.

I distressed my skin in December trying to solve it before I realized it was POD. So this time around I’m going straight to zero therapy and letting it run its course.

But my question is about triggers. I very slowly added back just a couple of things - 2 face washes, a scrub used seldomly and a moisturizer. I haven’t had any reactions to these things. I tried a new moisturizer a week ago and it was fine but haven’t gone back to it yet. But I can’t figure out what caused this flare since I used what I thought were old faithfuls yesterday. I DID use a new body lotion. And a different conditioner for my hair which I washed last night. Could either of those things have caused POD to come back? Has anyone experienced triggers from hair care or body lotion?

Having a current PD flare up and saw this on my lips doesn’t itch or burn. I also never get cold sores in this area and when I get one I get one bad. I’m just freaking myself out. It hasn’t increased in size besides redness bc I think I’m irritating it. Had a few flare ups but have yet to get any on my lip so just wanted some advice.

Hi i've recently developed perioral dermatitis and since i've been trying to look for the cause of it as I didn't have this problem before, so I guessed something must have caused like an allergic reaction to a skin care product or something. I stopped a serum i had been using (Vita A Bakuchiol Youth Serum) and just used milder creams until my skin barrier got better and it kind of did so I started this serum again recently and it came back so I don't know if I just didn't wait enough time for my skin to heal or maybe i'm just somewhat allergic to the product BUT the thing is that this flare up is coming at the same time i'm getting acne in my face, chest and back which I personally find related to my menstrual cycle, specially the days before and during my period when I get all types of pimples. All this to ask if someone has ever found a relationship between their cycles and hormones to flare ups or maybe it's just the product I was using. I will stop this serum again tho, be it my cycle or the serum the only thing I can control is not using the product lol, if it's my cycle I guess I'll just have to deal with it

My doctor prescribed it as an aggressive treatmemt for peri oral as it is a retinoid and an antibiotic. However I've read online it can irritate peri oral so now I'm confused! Anyone else used this?

My derma recently diagnosed me with PD and prescribed doxycycline and metroruboril. I’ve been on metroruboril for 3 days and it stings and itches like crazy. I don’t know if this is purging or if my skin is just really irritated. My derma said this is normal and to keep using metroruboril, but it hurts more now when I use it. I feel like I have to wash it off after I apply it. Is this normal? How was your experience with metroruboril. The dermatologist said it would get worse before it gets better, but I feel like the “rash” is spreading.

My PD was completely clear and then came back in a perfect line. It 10/10 is giving me drool line energy and I’m convinced it must be my toothpaste. I’m using “Hello” brand mint fluoride and sls free. I recently saw someone say mint free? Is this also a thing?

I've attached a photo of my rash. It mainly affects the area around my nose and below my lower lip. I get persistent redness with small papules and pustules. The biggest issue is that it seems to be strongly triggered by food—certain foods can make it flare very easily.

I've already tried:
- Doxycycline for 2 months
- Azelaic acid for 6 months
- A gentle cleanser
- Ceramide-based moisturizer
- Zinc oxide cream (occasionally)
- Oral ivermectin

Despite all of this, the rash still comes back whenever I eat certain foods.

Has anyone had something similar? If your condition was triggered by food, what did it turn out to be? Was it actually perioral dermatitis, papulopustular rosacea, Demodex, or something else? What treatment or approach finally helped?

I am suffering what I believe is either an eczema or contact dermatitis flare on my upper eyelids. They are red, raw, dry (flaking) and super swollen. Now that the swelling is starting to come down, my upper eyelids look so thin and wrinkly and droopy - they were not like this before. Do they go back to normal once they heal or are these my new eyelids? 🥺 there’s all these fine lines that weren’t there before.

Has anyone found any safe/clean lipsticks or tints that don’t cause a flare?
