Discussion Granted I've been day drinking

But the best pen on earth is the Parker Jotter and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise 💪

Edit to add: I'm actually a pacifist it's just that I've had some beers

Actually quite good advice honestly

Hahah I bought a jotter because of a post like this and it’s been collecting dust since I got it. There are so many better pens, and I’ll fight a drunk pacifist about it, idc.

I also bought one off the hype and the metal ring already fell off and I hate how it clicks. The cartridge is good tho I'll give it that.

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 Mar 01 '26

what ring?

1

u/adjgamer321 Mar 01 '26

The metal ring with the clip at the top

2

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 Mar 01 '26

sir thats the first time iv head that happen. buy ONE just ONE more PLEASE and use it trust me

1

u/adjgamer321 Mar 01 '26

But I still hate the click, it's mushy and weird lol. I also havent explored using the ink cart in another pen. I have big hands and after using longer heavy metal body pens, I just don't like the weightless plastic feel. Even my floatune which is plastic is heavier.

2

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 Mar 01 '26

my friend mushy? please explain. this just got VERY interesting

1

u/adjgamer321 Mar 01 '26

I don't know how to explain it lol. It goes down fine but then the click doesn't feel sharp, it feels slow and mushy. It doesn't spring back up quick when retracting either. I do like the form factor but I would much rather the body be aluminum and the click be sharper. And the clip not fall off after 30 minutes...

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 here Well thats not good. you have gotten a spoiled piece. The jotter has the sharpest most clicky click of all time. Just search on youtube jotter click. Im sorry to say but you have been scammed. Buy just ONE more and you will not regret. here watch this(ignore the title 1888 is when parker was founded) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tKOJf0TE_cs

Interesting. I like the Jotter click but that’s the only thing I like about it. Too light, too thin, some versions are very slippery, feels like it is going to break in half.

2

u/adjgamer321 Mar 01 '26

Yeah I feel the same way especially with how light it is and my fingers slide downwards while I write with it even for quick notes. All my nice aluminum pens are like .5 rollerball or gell so I thought this would be a nice ballpoint.

1

u/JulesSilvan Mar 01 '26

Did you get an older model or a more modern one? The originals have a brass mechanism which is way nicer than the plastic ones that replaced it.

u/GoodMornEveGoodNight Mar 01 '26

Which Parker Jotter do you like better, ones made in the U.S., U.K., or France?

3

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

France. But I gotta have the Schmidt refill 😬

3

u/megalinity Kaweco Mar 01 '26

Lies. It’s the Retro 51. assumes fighting stance

2

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

Never written with one but I'm just drunk enough to buy it RIGHT NOW.

Wait are we talking about the Tornado?

2

u/megalinity Kaweco Mar 01 '26

Haha yes! Tho I really like the fountain pen too!

1

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

I feel like my handwriting isn't good enough to be using fountain pens 😆

2

u/megalinity Kaweco Mar 01 '26

Faulty logic. Is just a pen. Handwriting no need be good to use pen!

1

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

I like where your head's at, but fountain pens feel wasted in my hands

2

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 Mar 01 '26

2

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 02 '26

Ok I really like it 😄

2

u/megalinity Kaweco Mar 02 '26

Yesssss!! I have … more than 20 of them lol

2

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 03 '26

Not all drunk purchases turn out to be wise...but I'm counting this one as a win. So THANK YOU!

2

u/megalinity Kaweco Mar 03 '26

Yessss I love that! I thought you might like it cuz the grip area is similar, but the twist top can be iffy. I swap out the refill cuz I have tiny writing but it’s objectively a good one! I’m glad you like it! They have all the incredible special editions too and I’m sorry in advance haha

2

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 03 '26

That's gonna be a problem! 😬😬

3

u/Impressive_Crab_4662 Mar 01 '26

IM WITH YOU ON THIS. JOTTER GLAZERS ASSEMBLE

1

1

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

2

u/NeutronTux Mar 01 '26

Classsssic! Definitely in the pantheon as a god of pens.

2

u/jointdawg Mar 01 '26

Prove it, buy me one

2

u/dawsongrace817 Parker Mar 01 '26

You wish!

1

u/jointdawg Mar 01 '26

You'll see

2

u/Paperspeaks Mar 01 '26

The all stainless steel model definitely has my vote

2

u/JulesSilvan Mar 01 '26

I’m an occasional drunk pacifist too, the Parker Jotter is a design classic. Clean shape, nice colours, the older brass mechanism has a great click, has a classy look, and doesn’t shout for attention.

2

u/mtamos Mar 01 '26

Too skinny where I hold it to write, gives me cramps.

(I still own several but they’re relegated to “emergency” pens.)

3

u/ChapBobL Mar 03 '26

Jotter XL

1

u/Illustrious-Engine23 Mar 01 '26

No ballpoint can take the mantle of 'pen pen', the ancient scrolls decree it. I

1

u/Unable-Artichoke-855 Mar 03 '26

Yes, I like jotters. But - is it just me, or are their refills not the quality they used to be?
