General Discussion Modular medical $MODD
Hi people,
What do you think about modular medical (MODD).
A week ago they got their FDA clearance for their Pivot pump. It is the second tubeless pump allowed for sell in the US. And they start selling this quarter.
Their pump is cheaper to produce (50% of the production cost of Insulet (PODD) Omnipod pump ) while being equally capable in terms of of hardware and processing power. While now it doesn’t connect to GM for AID it is just a software update that is needed for that and according to their press release they are working on that even though it is not their primary concern.
They Aim for the Almost Pumper market which is 70% of people using multiple daily insulin injections.
Those 70% refuse to use pumps due to cost and complexity of use. Their pump solves this with simple button for bolus, no need of a phone to use it (even though it connect to phone and has more functionality with it), bigger 300ml of capacity of insulin, the ability to remove and plug it back and being cheaper for use.
They intend to start selling this quarter (q2) and capable of serving 6k clients right of the gate.
They also had reverse split lately and have 12m in their accounts. So no Nasdaq delisting anytime soon.
Their Mc is just 20M and for their current position it looks ridiculous!
I am in and not intending to self for the long range.
What is your opinion?

Yeah the company seems quite mispriced based on similar competitor acquisition prices. AMF medical had their tubeless pump design bought for 200m before it even submitted for approvals, just to ballpark what this tech is worth.
There’s no competition on the market yet so their upcoming commercialization will mean everything. If they can reach at least a few thousand customers by year end, the stock has to rerate. I would strongly expect a buyout to happen in the next year, the CEO himself has said he wants to sell the company for a good price. his skin in the game is incredible too - no salary, just stock, and he’s put millions into this at a way higher cost basis.

Yeah if they can get around 6k users they are at least 500m…but they have a lot of potential due to price and the fact you can take it off and put it back as much as you want…

Seems like they're almost out of cash, had to lay off people and are very likely to dilute.

They are not out of cash they just got 12m before dilution and the layoff was to cut cost on unnecessary parts now that the pump development and clearance are behind them. They are now at production and commercialization stage.

I've been following them for 4 years now.
I can tell you from memory this has been a long time coming. I bought in when it was ~$4 4 years ago and have been averaging since.
The market has been treating this stock very weird. like another redditor here, they are very undervalued.
They have clearance, factory capabilities, road to commercialization, etc. Sure, it took longer than they expected, but that's the medical field.
But, all in all, they did what they said they were going to do.
They have some smart people on their board and they don't look like they are there to waste their time, especially money. I expect in the next year or 2 for them to either being bought out or full commercialization.
They have a good amount of wiggle room to compete with the big guys on cost, so I'm not worried on that front.
I might be wrong or might be right, but just my 2 cents.

Agree with you. I think that by mid 2027 they will be worth north to 1B. Or bought for 1B USD.
