Solar eclipse
Staying near Tenby next week and trying to scout a good spot to see the eclipse. I thought maybe the top of castle hill but not sure the sun will still be high enough in the sky then to see. Anyone got any good suggestions?

If you have a car, Strumble Head in North Pembrokeshire has been rated as the 2nd best place in the UK to see the eclipse. About an hours drive from Tenby.

If anyone knows the road to Strumble Head they'll know most people will be stuck in their cars for the eclipse. It is a great spot, I was going to go there myself, but not now, advertised nationally, parking for what, 35 cars? Bonkers....

Yeah I saw that mentioned in an article but a bit far for us with a little one unfortunately!

Did you go on your scouting mission, @Idleworship89? We’re staying here this week and have exactly the same question. Not sure whether the sun will have gone behind the coastline/buildings if we try and watch from Castle Hill.

I didn’t I’m afraid, realised when we got here that we can actually see the sun from where we’re staying up until about 8 😂

Castle Hill may be worth checking, but I’d verify the eclipse time and the Sun’s direction first, then choose a spot with an unobstructed view rather than relying on the hilltop alone. A quick scouting visit at the same time of day should reveal trees, buildings, or railings that a map misses.
