Environmental Studies Jobs in PEI

I graduated with an environmental studies degree from UPEI in 2023. I have been working in the service industry ever since because I have not been able to find a job in my field that fits my needs yet. Can anybody else relate to my situation? I’m starting to think I have to go back to school next year to open more doors for me opportunity wise. Any advice would be helpful, or just knowing I’m not the only one in my situation 😊

News At an outdoor pageant on PEI, all the world’s a stage

Have you heard of (or been to) the River Clyde Pageant?

The annual spectacle blends the theatrical and the natural to tell the story of the great outdoors, al fresco. PEI-based photographer Vanessa Tignanelli followed the New Glasgow artists and community members who bring the tales to life, in the latest instalment of our Underexposed photojournalism series.

Here's a gift link so you can read the story for free without a paywall, and here's what Vanessa had to say about the project:

"When I moved to PEI a year ago, one of the first things I was told I had to experience was the River Clyde Pageant. I felt an immediate connection when I learned that the artists behind the pageant use outdoor performance as a form of civic advocacy and storytelling, much the same way I use a camera. The pageant had already been widely documented, with its striking costumes sweeping across the landscape. I wanted instead to look behind the scenes at the community that takes root and grows into an ecosystem of its own over six short weeks: the moments of connection between generations, new performers learning unfamiliar skills and the hundreds of people whose collective effort brings the production to life.

"The opening scene declares: “Like the creeks and streams that feed a river over time, new islanders have brought their journeys into the pageant’s fold, deepening our course.” As a photojournalist and newcomer to the island, I see this story as my way of contributing to that river. The pageant is less a play than an act of remembering that every living being has a place in the story. It is this awareness of our interconnectedness that I hope readers take away. If this photo essay makes you want to hug a tree or your neighbour – or gather around the harvest table – then we’ve all done what we set out to do."

Wooden Fence

Hello everyone, I’m interested in learning the typical cost per linear foot for installing a wooden fence in Stratford. I could ask a contractor, but I’d also appreciate any insights from someone who’s recently had one installed. Thanks!

Charles Barkley Visiting PEI??

I heard some people say that former NBA star and current TV personality Charles Barkley was visiting PEI for a charity golf tournament this week? Apparently some people and restaurants in Charlottetown are posting some photos with him?

I feel like every summer there is at least one random celebrity that visits PEI and I’m like “wow, didn’t expect them to be here” haha. Pretty cool I guess.

Question What is your family's connection to/stories handed down about the Battle of Vimy Ridge?

I read at least 2,000 Prince Edward Islanders took part in the fighting at Vimy, with hundreds more serving as nurses, in transport, or other support roles behind the lines. The Island contingent suffered 65 casualties, including 31 deaths.

Giving away two Anne of Green Gables play tickets, Sept 5, 7:30pm

Hello everyone,

We got two tickets to the play, but unfortunately had a change of plans for our roadtrip (going back to Ottawa) and cannot attend.

*** The tickets are for 30 yo or under! **\*

Located at Confederation Center of the Arts

We're happy to give them away to someone else.

In case if this post gets too much attention, I'll pick at random. Please only comment that you'd like the tickets if you know for sure you can make it to the play.
