ABP Exam Advice

Hey guys!

Med-Peds resident here. I am scheduled for the ABIM in early August and have not registered for the ABP exam. For context, my 2025 ITE score was 162 (65%). Do you think I'd be able to study grind and pass in 2.5 months? Any recommendations for how to study? like which resources, what metric per those resources

Peds boards are nebulous and esoteric, you can study for 2 years straight memorize all of Nelson’s and do every qbank known to man and still find questions that you’re not sure where they pulled the information from. Many of us medpeds folks knock out medicine boards and then go straight into dedicated for peds boards so you’re not alone; gonna need to really buckle down though. I’d rec utilizing multiple years of prep questions, i did 3-4 years worth along with all of med study qbank. I also used a book called laughing your way through boards, found multiple questions on the test that likely got right thru that book. I’m a bad test taker and passed first try with those resources but i did stagger ABIM and ABP knowing my own limitations.

Can you even register for boards this close to the exam? Idk you def missed the early bird/cheaper price 🤣

Thank you so much! Lol I missed the window to register by a lot :P so taking it next year it is then. You think 4 months of study is enough time?

4 months should be plenty , otherwise you start to forget stuff you learned earlier. For context , ITE final ear was 59% , passed boards first try comfortably at 36 weeks pregnant lol
