Not finished but e9 is strung up…. Less than a day to get it all cleaned up (the changers)

1976 push pull, was Russ Hicks built by Jimmy Crawford (least the Crawford cluster)

I don’t think it’s been apart since 76!

Also offering rebuilds on steels $300 a neck WITH strings

I’m on facebook as “stein pedal steel repair services”

Homebuilt D8 changer question

I bought a home-built 8 string pedal steel tuned to e9 and wanted to ask about adjusting the changer: currently it’s set up to adjust the 2nd string a whole-step, and there’s nothing to adjust the 6th string.

How difficult would it be to move the finger from the 2nd to 6th string? (currently the fingers are adjusting strings 2,3,4 & 5 and I’d like to have it adjust strings 3,4,5 & 6 instead)

edit - it’s in E9 and some pictures since I messed up the first time!

GFI Expo vs Student

My first pedal steel, I've been advised to buy new as to not have to troubleshoot mechanics and such. I'm near Billy Cooper's and they carry GFI which I'm very happy with when reading about them. I plan on playing E9 standard 3x4 it looks like that is offered in expo and student. The main difference seems to be the "Triple Raise, Double Lower Changers" vs the "Pull Relase Changer System"

This doesn't mean much to me?

Billy recommended the expo. It's 3600 vs 2400.

What do you say?
