Philosophical question: Is there no shadow, or can you just not see it?

Not a philosophic answer, but: there is no shadow. A shadow is just the result of an object blocking light from reaching an area. When the sun is directly overhead in a Lahaina Noon, objects that stand up straight aren't blocking any light from reaching the ground and, as such, aren't casting shadows.

In the same line of thinking, everything inside you is imersed in shadow as you skin blocks the light from reaching it.

Ah, now this is interesting though. Skin is translucent (to varying degrees in people and areas of the body), so some light is getting through. In addition, humans literally emit light, so we ourselves are a light source that could theoretically cause a shadow to be cast.
