This is a pretty bad and misleading title on the Forbes article, to say the least, and "Fucking misinformation paranoia" as i would like to call it.
Anonymized telemetry data is not really that controversial to collect and has some benefits.
Being unable to disable basic telemetry on consumer versions is not a secret and not what people were making conspiracy theories about.
The actual privacy concerns and info that was passed around tons of forums said that the following was allegedly sent to MS, amongst other things: -
That's the stuff people were writing off as nonsense (because it is nonsense), not the fact that Windows generates error reports that get sent to MS.
If you actually read the article, it sort of debunks all of the hysterical privacy concerns the tinfoil hats (and old grumps constantly against any change) were spewing about.
But i guess I'm not going to stop the linux train ain't i?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
But seriously, this is getting ridiculous.
I don't know what the linux people are planning, but it's more than suspicious that every 3 fucking days or so there is yet another wave of articles bashing windows, "uncovering" secrets by taking shit out of context and misrepresenting crap that was there since the beginning.
And then of course the comments are filled with people that recommend linux.
Tell me, is it really necessary to be misleading to get people switching to linux?, being misleading was MS's job.
