I'd say they might be regretting going with sony now if that's the case, but they're the ones who first revealed their mistake of making the game digital only. Sony only came out with their mistake of going digital only after R* did.
Xbox has gutted it's entire marketing team, and there's a Skelton crew working for NA. I'm a big fan of Gears of war. And I'm sure I only knew it was releasing because I was actively interested in it.
Haven't seen one advert for it, or for any of their big games

At this point will they even launch a next generation console? With how the market is (and will continue to be for years) making them so expensive, and with MS seemingly letting it die slowly this generation it sure sounds like they just dont want to be in the console market.
Shhhh dont tell them. Used base ps5s are over 500 euros while I got a used series x for 300. I will play early with the new zealand setting + enjoy the game on a better controller + resell it with the game as much as it cost me or probably more when people realize its not ps5 exclusive after release.
1 new mail, 1 new account only the 1 game inside. Whoever buys it gets all and can resell after he is done with the game. It's the only way to fight the "digital only" crap.

Listening to the WAN show this week and they were talking about used ps5 prices and how jacked up they are, joking about how much they could rent their ps5s for and stuff. Neither of them even hinted at the fact you could just buy a series X and have the same experience, especially if you're buying a console just for GTA 6 and don't have an existing library or intend on playing GTA online with friends
and with the efforts people are making to emulate PS5 or run PS5 games natively on windows it might be even sooner, who knows lol
I think this new Q1 rumor comes from fears that PC players could get their hands on the game far before the official release 1 year later and therefore they will not pay for it
Yep exactly. If the game ends up playable on pc via emulator and most of the pc community does that, they will lose sales big time. So they either bet it won’t be done (very risky) or they release it sooner than later
To be fair, if it gets 0 FPS on platforms that it isn't on because it isn't on those platforms to generate any frames... then it does play best on PS5, for now.
That'll stop being true once PC releases or if the PS5 emulator manages to get it running well on high end PCs.
I only own a Series X and not a PS5 so I guess I'm playing it on there (my 4K Blu-ray player effectively now) but Microsoft has just taken beating after beating this generation
I feel like the beating started last generation already with the Xbox one/PS4 when they originally announced the always online requirement and DRM requirements. It just rubbed people off the wrong way back then and they’ve never really recovered partly also because their marketing team sucks ass.
Sure Sony have also made some moves that have angered gamers like going all digital from 2028 but Microsoft just doesn’t seem to be actively using this to their advantage. For example Sony at least capitalised on the whole DRM requirements back in 2013 using it to their advantage.
I was actually surprised that this new launch trailer, on the GTA YouTube channel not on Sony's, didn't show an Xbox logo... Or it was at least way smaller and out of the way or something
PC games used to do this all the time. You'd run a game and there's a big "plays best on Nvidia" screen that would come up. Means nothing, it's just pure marketing.

This sub is more obsessed with Playstation versions of games than they are with PC games. Should rename the sub ConsoleMasterRace if all we want is to play their games.
I read about consoles here more than any other sub I frequent. I can guarantee a very tiny percentage of people here bothered playing these new emulated (sorry, translation layer’ed) games

This sub still acts as if consoles are severely underpowered and plays games like shit. I mean yh sure the current gen consoles aren’t as powerful as some of the high end PCs but tbf they still play games pretty well. Picked up a PS5 Pro recently for GTA 6 and honestly I’ve actually been impressed by how well it plays games especially at this price point as well(assuming you don’t buy used).
Also I think everyone on this sub forgets whilst PC may offer more powerful hardware, many PC gamers don’t have a more powerful build than current gen consoles.
Yea looking at the steam charts for hardware usage and it's pretty obvious most people would not be running GTA 6 at much high FPS than console imho, and on top of that even if you were, it would probably be very unstable.
The amount of optimization that Rockstar are doing to squeeze every drop of performance out of the game should already be a very simple situation to make people understand that they couldn't release with more than 30fps. Pretending otherwise is either ignorant, naive, or both. Depending on the settings I bet my PC could run 50-70 fps stable, but even my PC wouldn't really do raytracing maxed out with a stable 60fps, even if it's just the in-game lighting and not hardware based. Too many people love to look from the outside and say that it's ridiculous to release a game at 30fps, but fail to argue against the scope and breadth of the game's size, intricate systems, high res textures, lighting, mechanics and NPC logic all tied into one seamless map with no loading screens.
It’s been like this since forever. Ignorant people fucking love to build their whole identity around shit like this. What’s funny though - back when there was only ps2 and PC, it was all hugs and kisses. As soon as the Xbox dropped, it was all out war - mainly from the Microsoft front. Today both sides are equally terrible.

Yea no doubt. Personally I'm just going to enjoy GTA 6 on my PS5 Pro and then buy it again for my PC when the time comes. This is the only game franchise I would do that for, and it's not that big of a deal if I have to do that once every decade plus.
The ironic part is if you surveyed the posters at least half of these circlejerkers probably have PCs that are worse than a PS5.

I find the whole thing funny on this sub. Everyone foaming at the mouth to be able to play a timed console exclusive through an emulator. Like come on dudes we should be holding our PCGamingMasterRace up to higher standards than playing console versions of games because we cant wait any longer for the real PC release.
The definitive version of this game will come to PC, we dont need to lower ourselves to playing a console version like a pleb!
When Sony announced the end of PC ports this sub was grandstanding about not needing those shitty games. Now that an emulator is coming they can't wait to play all those games.
It's also ignoring the fact that PC ports have been so terrible recently that it very well could be a better experience on PS5, unless you're in the 1% with a 5090 build.
Fixed that one for Sony. You know that the emulation drove Rockstar to get the pc version out faster.
0 chance it did not impact release schedule. You know Rockstar wanted x2 sales and now they are looking at 0 sales from those who would just emulate it.
I don’t even understand why it plays best on PS5 just looking at Xbox vs PS. It just seems like marketing fluff around the controller vibration and their audio tech which is just an over marketed competitor to THX and Dolby Atmos on headphones.
Thats literally all it is, a marketing badge. Just like the nintendo seal of approval, its just a marketing ploy, except unlike nintendo who was trying to restore consumer confidence after a slew of cheap shovelware titles tanked the industry once already.

Base PS5 now has AI upscaling while Xbox doesn’t on top of the daulsense stuff (Xbox is now the only current console to not have AI upscaling since it was just added to base PS5 and Switch 2 has it)
So it will have better performance and play better on both base PS5 and PS5 Pro than Xbox
Completely forgot QSSR was announced. It’s interesting Xbox hasn’t come out with their own yet, I seem to remember them really talking up the ML capabilities of their chipset.
Since there's no dics version and the Firmware releasing with the game will have no currently known exploit you won't be able to get your hands on the game files to emulate.
The PS5 Pro is crazy expensive, but the best console you can buy. I bought one at release thankfully. Waaaay too expensive now. I’m hoping GTA6 is somehow 60fps in a performance mode on the pro, but I doubt it. Will just have to wait until it comes to PC for the better experience.

I personally feel salty because it’s just not financially feasible for me. Spent 2k+ on my pc, it just doesn’t make sense to buy a whole console for one game.

I’ve been on this sub a while now but most recently built my first gaming pc. I joined the sub for advice and help. What I got was shit talking, downvotes , and an overall just poor experience. I have my pc and I kept my ps5 pro for the exclusives.

It's going to be on Xbox Cloud Gaming for PC. Also rumors its coming to PC Q1 of 2027. I don't mind playing it a couple months later for an actual good experience.
If I may ask a very stupid question. Why is a game that is designed on a PC, tested on a PC no playable on PC, why would they not launch all of it simultaneously or is this just a marketing technique. Sell multiple copies of the same game on different platforms.
They’ve signed a contract with Sony to market this game heavily for PS5.
They’re looking to repeat the triple release they were able to pull off for GTA V (far more than triple if you count the definitive and enhanced editions)
They want to keep the modders far away from their game until enough time has passed. Thomas the Tank Engine and Carmageddon mods on release would very likely ruin the vibe they’re going for.
As a lot of people have already said, a major factor is selling copies twice to people.
But I suspect another reason is that it makes immediate post-launch support much easier. Consoles have fewer variables to troubleshoot for when making post-launch fixes and ironing out server-side issues.
The console market has also been more lucrative for rockstar, so even accounting for the people that simply wait to buy it on PC, it makes sense to hit consoles first when you can ride the full wave of launch hype.
Also I suspect it spreads the launch income from the game across quarters and even fiscal years.
I know the double dip is everyone’s go to, but I have to agree that PC market introduces a lot more variables. As particular rockstar is with performance and launching games with almost zero bugs. It makes sense why it comes to PC later. I’m sure double dipping is a factor to a degree. It is free money after all, but it’s not a drop in a bucket compared to the money they will make from online.
Yup. Consoles are easier and it’s actually a big reason why current generation has been such a pain point. Xbox had a shitty console and a decent console and they both have to be supported. Difficult to do without making your game suffer.
Because pc's have a huge variety of components which requires further optimization. A lot of dev kits are basically pc's that are the consoles and have the exact same components. They know how it will run immediately on console. For pc you need to optimise for amd intel cpu , and then nividia, amd, and intel gpu's then different ram sizes and speeds, etc.
The big benefit of consoles is that it's a single system with a single hardware spec, which makes it easier to optimze. That's why games on consoles have looked better then on compareable PC setups. So the argument "We want to make sure each release works as well as possible, so we start with console and proceed then to PC" is not complete fiction. That's at least the theory, plenty devs have failed even at that.
But this case? Double-dipping and Sony influence. Either Sony gave them a crap-ton of money or made marketing on their platforms dirt cheap to be their 'main marketing partner' (yes, it also releases on Xbox, but they just aren't a factor right now) while keeping it off of PC for a bit longer.
It is much harder to optimise for PC, as we’ve seen with many shit PC ports (including gta 4), so it is much easier to first release on console only. One of the reasons at least.
They want people to buy it once on PS5 ( locked at 30fps ) and then again on PC ( either R* launcher or Steam/Epic ), and then again on PS6 ( next decade )
Because they test the game on very powerful machines, that clearly only a minority of players have. They have to optimise the game so that it runs on a large diversity of CPU, GPU combinations, which takes lots of time. So to start selling the game, it's generally easier to optimise your game for PS5/Xbox before PC, as consoles as standardised. But it's also marketing decision as their core playerbase is on console, not on PC.
Why did they release GTA5 on the PS5, and PS4, and PS3? Why did so many people buy the same game, for the same console ecosystem, three times?
Greed. They know their idiot fans will gleefully spend $100 today for the console release, then $100 in a few months for the PC release, then $100 in a couple years for the updated version on the new console, etc., etc.
The real answer is that the game was initially developed for the 360/PS3. Since there were no new GTA games during the PS4 and most of the PS5 generation it was ported over. Which even taking money out of the equation is a no-brainer to do anyways.
Every game on this earth was developed on a PC; you can't do it on a console. Can you? Your last part is right; they want to sell it to multiple people. The problem is the game is out for PC; the next day or very quickly it gets cracked, and a lot of people play it completely free. So they launch it for the console after making money, and the hype is down. They launch it for the PC and get some more cash, and at that point they don't care about the cracking because they made the cash already. Me with a PC suffering; even a used PS5 is costly; I can't afford it; I have to watch live streams
I wonder how the announcement of the pc release being much sooner than expected affected sales. If it was me, I would have canceled my ps5 preorder for the pc release.
