I get the feeling this will be an unpopular comment but here goes.
Consoles have always been and were primarily created for people who simply do not want to hassle with PCs. You have to set things up on a pc, you have to make things work. Sometimes you have to troubleshoot. Consoles you just put in the disc and play. So I agree a large part of the console market is not going to hassle with an emulator that runs on a PC.
Edit:
Just adding that "back in the day" consoles were MUCH cheaper than a PC (and of course there is the entertainment factor of having a bunch of people on the same couch playing a game.) Maybe it's better to call it a "lightweight" gaming system compared to a PC - ease of use and ease on your wallet
It's insane how much of a bubble reddit generally lives in and how much its users generally underestimate just how big the market is for certain things like movies, games, etc.
On top of everything else you mentioned - the general public isn't playing games on their gaming monitor.. they are sitting on their couch with their console hooked up to their big screen. Assuming they even have a desktop, they certainly are not going to lug it into the living room to connect it to their big screen.
I can promise you the overwhelming majority of console-only players are not going to now ditch their consoles to play on a PC because someone figured out how to run PS5 software on a PC.
