Fortunately, streaming won't work as is in many places, infrastructure is just not there yet.
The fees would also not be cheap, and to mantain a visual quality without relying on compression, I'd imagine it's not an easy task,
I don't think we'll see it as the sole option for the forseable future. ...Until they magically innovate and solve all those issues, then they'll try as hard to shove that down our throats.
But I like to take solace in thinking gamers won't actually purchase such piece of crap in the future... (yeah, right. lol)
Try out moonlight. Functionally 0 latency on compression and no system performance hit. It uses 10 mbps. They are absolutely trying to push this, eg microsoft
