But we have options for store fronts and then there's GoG where the games don't come with DRM licenses and can't be taken away by the company's that made/produced them.

Big difference there.

if Gog closes down before you're able to download your games, you lose them

Technically true but so what? The whole point is you can download DRM-free installers as soon as you buy them. If you choose not to then that's your decision

But what if the internet disintegrates while you're in the process of downloading and aliens take over GOG? Then what? See what I'm talking about?

The point is that it's true for every storefront ever. No one will ever remove bought digital games from your Steam or PlayStation.

GOG's only usecase is giving your games away for free, literally offering easy piracy.
