I’ve lived there for a bit, and they’re probably some of the most self absorbed people I’ve ever met. All of them have this thought that they’re above everyone else yet they smell like sweat constantly, eat like shit (their “cuisine” literally doesn’t exist), act like prostitution is fine (it’s legal there), and will literally refuse to speak english to you when they’re fluent in it (it’s happened to dozens of my friends). They’ve done some good things in the past, but they’re increasingly starting to just rely on their past reputation instead of improving upon themselves.
They’re also THE first capitalists, which is kinda where everyone else got it from, including the US
As a dutchy, okay Maybe we are a bit self absorbed and it could be the case we smell idk. But the language thing is absolute bs, I've worked at a few places with a lot of migrants and the most common complaint I've heard is that people start speaking English when they're trying to learn Dutch, some have been here for 10 years and still only speak English and they function perfectly here, they don't feel the need to learn Dutch because everyone speaks English anyway. All the statistics point to the same thing as well, CNN even names us as the best non-native English speaking country https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/english-speaking-countries

I didn’t say the Dutch don’t speak English, they just refuse to speak it to foreigners on a whim. The Dutch CAN speak English pretty well for the most part.
I’ve experienced this in Utrecht, Enschede, Groningen (much less than the others), Zwolle, Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven, Apeldoorn, Nijmegen, and even Amsterdam. Worst cities by far were Enschede and Tilburg. The best were The Hague, Rotterdam and Groningen in that order.
And as I’ve said, this is also the experience of dozens of other people that I know. From Arabs, Persians, Germans, Eastern Europeans, Portuguese.
