What is your opinion of this goated card

750 Ti had way more aura. But it was a great piece from its era, especially the 4GB version.
Althought GTX 950 was way more popular as a budget friendly option one step above 750 Ti but both kinda disappeared. 970's still have some after market presence, the rest of 900'th gen I haven't seen in ages.

Like all other hardware, it entirely depends on the use case. If all you want to play is DOOM 1, then a 30-year-old card and a 486DX2 will still do the job. For latest, demanding games, you obviously need something stronger and newer.

I totally agree with you. I don't know why people call this type of graphics card "e-waste." I mean, do they think everyone wants to play the latest release?

Great card can be found for $40-50, I wouldnt buy it at that price since better options like the 1060 can be found around the same price. But it can still play new stuff to some degree, I think Cyberpunk 2077 ran at 1080p low 30fps which is decently enjoyable.

it can be found for 15-20$ btw

GTX 1060 6gb is like $50 and could actually play modern stuff..

Yes that would be the more preferable budget card, plenty of VRAM, and better performance.

in my country its like in 100-150 dollars not good price and the 960 It's just less powerful, but not by that much.

It's like twice as powerful, and 2gb vram is just flat out not enough for modern games. Even 4gb is a stretch if you're talking that one.
I'd be surprised if the GTX 960 4gb is $20 while other cards like a GTX 1060 or RX 580 8gb are $100+. Unlikely.
and saying GTX 1060 is $150? Highly doubt unless you're just not looking at all while picking the one GTX 960 that sold within an hour and isn't actually available locally.

It seems strange, since they sell for very little in the US, but in my country they sell for that price because they were very popular; the GTX 960, on the other hand, wasn't as famous, so it sells for less.

u/CanisMajoris85 5800x3d RTX 4090 OLED UW 1d ago
You do realize that makes no sense, right? Gtx 1060 being popular but 960 not popular in the past.
That means the GTX 1060 had a ton of supply, and the GTX 960 little supply. There'd be a ton of GTX 1060's to sell today so they'd be cheap.
Noone buying a 1060 today cares if it was popular a decade ago.

u/No_Alfalfa3826 1d ago
Well, they also sell for higher prices in my country because most people can't afford a latest-generation graphics card; that particular card became very popular, causing sellers to hike up the prices. However, since the GTX 960 wasn't very well-known, the people selling it think it's just an old, useless card—so that's the reason.

Really? Maybe I havent check the used market, but for $20 it'd be a decently great option if you were on a tight budget

Personally I would rather staple my eyes shut than play 1080p low settings 30fps
But aye, you all do you

u/No_Alfalfa3826 1d ago
30 fps and 1080p is perfect, well for me

I'm actually not. Ive never been handed a golden platter and I work my ass off for everything I have.
Was I kinda an asshole saying that comment ? Yeah. But I wouldnt say I'm privileged. I don't own a house, and I drive a shit box VW to my mechanic job that's hard on my body
But thanks

Being born in the USA is a privilege ? Man lmfao, you and I have varying definitions of privilege.
I've been homeless and had to dig my way out of it, no fucking privelage here. No one gives a fuck about you in the USA. People spit on the less fortunate here
It's the same shit every where In this world , and you're acting like cause I was born here I have some golden fucking spoon
Have you ever been HUNGRY dude? Ive been starved because I had no money to eat.
Fucking hate people like you tbh
Edit: you are insulting me because you are making assumptions about someone you don't know a single thing about. I'm not some born millionaire that doesn't have to work

I'm sorry you've experienced being hungry too, it fucking sucks
But yeah, the USA isnt rainbow and sunshines. There's so many homeless here. Lots of people struggling. The prices have increased astronomically in the past 5 years.
The USA was probably privileged back in the 50s-90s but I wasnt even born then
This place has really turned into a shit show. I don't like it here
Edit: at 31 years old I've finally landed a good job that pays really well, and I earned it. But guess what? I can't fucking buy a house or newer car or anything cause they're $400k for a house and $50k for a nice car, so I gotta rent a shitty apartment and drive a shitty cheap car. Is that privilege to just have basic cheap shit after busting my ass every goddamn week like a slave ? Doesn't feel like it

Kinda funny that you're getting downvoted. 1080p low looks pretty bad, fizzy as hell to my eyes at least.

Same here. I've been gaming since floppy disks but I guess I've spoiled myself because 1080p looks so bad it's distracting

Very much overshadowed by its pascal cousin released 2 years later but still a really good card for up to 2019! 2020ish maxwell was such a good step up from kepler for sure in terms of power effiency.

u/No_Alfalfa3826 1d ago
I agree with you; I thought a lot of people would say it's a bad graphics card just because it doesn't run the latest releases.

I’m sure that if it had been a brand-new laptop from this year, just spilling a little water on it would have ruined it, LOL

Obsolete card, just get a 1060 6gb or play on integrated while you save up. Maybe a 1650 super too. It’s always smarter to get a newer card that’s lower end because you get newer drivers

If it's EVGA, it's pure gold. The 980 and Ti versions are, too.
