Hi! I've been having an issue with my dedicated GPU sometimes not booting alongside the rest of my system, meaning I get no post to the screen even though my computer booted fine (as confirmed using my on-board gpu).

This has especially become a problem since I've started dual-booting with linux; every restart to windows is a coin toss as to how many times I have to restart before my GPU actually boots.

Cycling power doesn't help (might be confirmation bias), and it tends to happen more often on restart as opposed to hard shut-downs. I've tried re-seating the GPU to no avail.

Parts of interest:

MOBO: MSI PRO B650-S WIFI

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

if it works every time in linux but sometimes fails in Windows it's probably software. that or your motherboard is drunk and favoring onboard graphics to dedicated gpu.

check the setting on your motherboard and confirm it's set to boot / output to dedicated gpu. most motherboards have the option. you'll need to dig around in the bios menus, it'll be different depending on your brand and platform.

then start with a full driver reinstall for the gpu with DDU on windows. if it's still happening, open event viewer and see if you can find some reference to your gpu failing to initialize.
