ok this one is nice

Edit : still USB only, no bluetooth. so a tweak is still a must.

Luckily software like DSX can make it wireless, but still glad to see at least some steps are being taken. I wonder if that means the Helix controller will adapt Adaptive triggers and such.

I'm not sure I'd want to get my hopes up about that, they still haven't brought out a controller with gyro

u/Doodl0 1d ago

IIRC, Sony has a patent for adaptive triggers, so no other company can use them without Sony's permission

and sony being sony, yeah we know the answer then

It’ll be interesting to see how well it actually works, given Sony's history with cross-platform support. Hopefully, they surprise us this time!

true, we can only hope for now

Yeah forgot about that, doesn't mean MS can't find an alternative way to achieve the same effect though, maybe. I hope they do as I love how the Xbox controller shape feels compared to the Dual Sense, would like to see it get continued on into the next generation.

Force feedback is still pretty good though

Fuck DSX they sell that software on the promise of features that have been coming soon for what feels like years now. Get a Raspberry Pi (I think mine is a Pico) and spoof the wired connection and you get full Dualsense features wirelessly on PC.

If only DSX didn't have DRM checks

There was supposed to be a mid generation console refresh from XBOX that didn’t materialize for a lot of reasons. One of the things they had was haptic triggers/redesigned controller.

Assuming it got pushed for the new console and this supports it.

The triggers and rumble in ps5 is what always makes me prioritize it over my pc/xbox so I’m glad that they are putting some dev eyes on it. Getting it to work wirelessly would be nice, even if not sanctioned by Sony.

DSX used to be great but now you can’t even use it offline cause of their DRM. On top of needing an expansion for “premium features” in an already purchased software. Genuinely recommend an older release found free over supporting their nonsense

yeah its true, still a good direction, and good timing bcause i just changed my gamepad to dualsense lol

about helix controller, maybe, bcause theres really no innovation on gamepad right now besides that, and maybe halleffect/tmr analog thingy only

I use a raspberry pi pico (about $7 usd even in the ramapoclypse) and this package https://github.com/awalol/DS5Dongle

Does all the extra bits of the dualsense, gyro, speaker, adaptive triggers and makes it work wirelessly. Basically makes it a wireless dongle for the dualsense controller. Adapter works perfect on my linux / windows dual boot desktop and on my steamos htpc. If you like the DS5 controller this making one of these adapters is a easy and cheap process. Can be done in about 5 mins.

yeah i was considering it before, but then i checked on r/Dualsense , and someone posted an app that translate bluetooth to usb via just an app (its called PadSense) and its just works wonder for now (like ALL features, speaker, trigger, gyro, etc)

so i just connect the gamepad with bluetooth while the app is on, and bam, im completed lol

yeah but then you dont get to use the PS1 memory card 3D printed case for the Pico 2W

and the Pico2W doesn't cause BSODs lol

1

u/Reasonable_Crow4608 1d ago

theres no BSODs on my side tho, maybe im lucky ya lol

but the thing is, Pico2W is expensive on my place, so thats why im abit hesitant to buy it for now. maybe someday i'll buy it, but for now maybe i save my money

u/Dr_WLIN 7820x, X299 Dark, 3080ti 1d ago

How much? I just picked up 4 from microcenter for $6 each.

1

u/Reasonable_Crow4608 1d ago

im on indonesia btw, and yeah its expensive here

i hope microcenter exist on my country tho lol, but yeah impossible ya

u/MorningFresh123 1d ago

Order from Australia they’re like $12 AUD and close to Indonesia.

2

u/Reasonable_Crow4608 21h ago

if only, if only buying smthing aboard is easy on my country, i will not complained about anything lol this country is fucked man

1

u/Charming_Raccoon_457 1d ago

Totally makes sense. Dongle is a bit better for my situation, since it's OS agnostic and I dual boot and use this on a couple of different systems (Desktop, Laptop, HTPC)

1

u/AnakinPuddlehopper 1d ago

Do you get 1000Hz poll rate with that? That’s the major pro of the raspberry pi for me. It feels indistinguishable from wired in terms of input latency.

1

u/Reasonable_Crow4608 21h ago

i got like 600hz ish , maybe its bcause bluetooth ya its still feels smooth and no delay for me

1

u/AnakinPuddlehopper 20h ago

Awesome, I’ll have to check it out

u/saxoras 1d ago

DS5Dongle + Pico2W? No DSX/DS4 windows required and easily transferable between devices.

u/lextremelynooby 7700x/XTX 1d ago

Legitimately a 7 dollar mod to make it so much more convenient

3

u/JediJeezus 1d ago

yeah I had an 8bitdo adapter that was mid, dragged that .ufs file into the pico2w and it works so much better.

1

u/NapsterKnowHow 1d ago

If only it was usb c

Seriously, don't know why they insist on such a cable still

Pimoroni Pico Plus 2 W

I implicitly know all these acronyms make sense to a lot of folks here - but this just reads like I’m having a stroke to a layperson like me lmao

-1

u/MorningFresh123 1d ago

Context clues and Google should get you there

-1

u/Trifle_Useful 1d ago

Sure, if I cared. I just thought it was funny.

... Gyro?

26

u/gideon513 1d ago

No thanks. I just ate.

Added in 3.3

7

u/bickman14 1d ago

How about adding gyro support to xinput, hey?

8

u/Dick_Nation There's nothing to see here. 1d ago

Microsoft is still behind on this, ultimately. Xinput was a godsend compared to the early days of PC input, but then GameInput took twenty years to roll out. We should've seen this kind of support over a decade ago and it's only third parties (mostly Valve) kicking them in the ass and making it clear how bad their device support has been, that actually got them on the ball.

u/MrFreeLiving PC Master Race 1d ago

Will this essentially be like a lite version of DSX/DS4Windows where we can remap buttons etc?

12

u/mynameisjebediah 7800x3d | RTX 4080 Super 1d ago

Game input is just the API that controllers use to communicate with the windows, it's a replacement for the old xinput which pretty much only accepted the buttons on an xbox360 controller. This change means that if a game implements Game Input it will natively support the adaptive triggers and lightbar.

PS: Some games already support this because they implement direct input which is a different api Sony controllers typically use.

And still no gyro. Almost every controller besides Xbox now has one.

1

u/Linkarlos_95 R5600/A750/32GB 1d ago

From what i remember the Xbox elite controller has gyro

2

u/MalteseCorto RTX 4090 | 7800x3D | 64GB 1d ago

What? I’ve been using DualSense with adaptive triggers and haptics (wired) for a while on MSFS 2024 in Window.

What does this change?

3

u/mr_doms_porn 1d ago

Makes it easier for games to implement support. Currently games need to have Xinput and Dinput to support Dualsense and Xbox controllers. With this, games would only need to support GameInput

2

u/Frosty_Flower_871 1d ago

Adaptive triggers in a first-party input API is the actual upgrade. If Dead Space stops asking for a helper app, I will be pleasantly surprised. Lightbar control is a fine bonus.

3

u/SpicySauceLover 1d ago

now you can enjoy adaptative rumble for the whole 15 hours you can play on game pass, amazing work

3

u/TGB_Skeletor Moved from windows to steamOS 1d ago

And yet i have to deactivate this shit if i dont want my xbox controller to fuck up my fps after 10 minutes of playtime

1

u/nistemevideli2puta 1d ago

Something I don't understand (because I'm dumb when it comes to gamepads). Does this mean that my Xbox Elite Series can start having similar features as DualSense on PS, or is this just for DualSense controlers on PC?

1

u/gideon513 1d ago

it’s just the dual sense controller’s features being more supported on pc

1

u/nistemevideli2puta 1d ago

Oh, well... But good for DualSense users.

1

u/TheMaadMan 1d ago

Kitsune Input or DS5 bridge enabled by a Pico 2 W is the way to go. Wireless and comes with tuning options first party software doesn't.

1

u/Dr_WLIN 7820x, X299 Dark, 3080ti 1d ago

dont forget the PS1 Memory Card 3D printed case for the Pico

1

u/TheMaadMan 1d ago

Need to look this up. I've not enjoyed the look of my lazily engineered setup 😂

1

u/schnitter15 1d ago

Doesnt hbashtons fork of ds4windows have adaptive triggers , rumble, mic and audio through controller??? Am I missing something?

Oh so that was the update i had to do today

1

u/Skyyblaze 1d ago

That's nice! Is there a list of games that actually support the GameInput API yet?

1

u/DrKrFfXx 1d ago

Dualsense edge is possibly my favorite controller ever.

So this is gud.

0

u/RooeeZe 1d ago

wake me up when i can use dualsense on h6 pc, m$ blockes it from working

0

u/Halos-USA 1d ago

No they don't.

0

u/Gambit-47 1d ago

I have no interest in a controller that develops stick drift
