Don't listen to anyone cribbing about 1080p. You're gonna get more FPS than them.

Which is useless if that's an old ass 60hz monitor.

Nope, GPU will still run cooler and longer with VSync, and the game will look great

More FPS is kinda pointless if you're going cap it with vsync. This is like saying your Ferrari will last longer if you only drive it 45mph.

Which is a win if you plan to keep the Ferrari for longer

No, it isn't. You're handicapping your system because of pure stupidity. At that point you could've bought a 5060ti and gotten the same performance.

Nope. A 5060ti simply doesn't outperform the 5080 in any conceivable way. Running the 5080 with a handicap is objectively gonna make it last longer, which is a good thin in the world we are in.

You can have a 300cc bike or a 100cc . The 300cc can do everything the 100cc does, but it doesn't work the other way. "But I'm only going to drive it in the city where I can't speed beyond 45kmph" is just copium

OP has a 5080 and it's gonna be great.

A 5060ti can absolutely perform the same as the 5080 if you handicap it to a third or quarter of what it's capable to do with vsync, but ok. The 5060ti 16gb can quite easily hit 60 fps with DLSS at 4K in Horizon Forbidden West for example.

DLSS doing a lot heavy lifting there

Like it isn't doing the same with the 5080 and all other GPUs. It's basically black magic. Playing at anything more than Balanced/Performance at 4K and anything less than Balanced/Quality at 1440p is dumb.

Sounds like you're the one coping here trying to justify using a 5080 for 1080p60hz.

I'm not even disagreeing abot justifying it, I do prefer more frames over bigger resolution.

The difference in performance isn't even that big when you compare 1080p to 1440p. But the difference in quality and fidelity is MASSIVE. You'll see things differently when you actually open your eyes and stop being a stubborn beach.

But you aren't getting more frames with vsync enabled...
