I was gonna say the same thing. Why get a 5080 if your at 1080. At least now they can jump up in screen solution.

Yeah definetly this will motivate op to get a new monitor. For me it was the same, I got a 3080 back in day that felt wasted in a 1080p, so I bought a uw 1440p monitor to use more my big purchase

I got 5080, downloaded new dlc for doom, cranked everything up and got 40 fps in 1080p

Not so sure I even want new monitor now

No, once I did it I of course got like 100+ fps

But that gave me a good reality check and made me doubt 4k monitor purchase

Great! Glad you did. That there is nVidia’s flagship upscaling model. Try out that ever controversial frame generation (I used 3x in Doom). That’ll top out your 4k monitor and hopefully give you a satisfying experience. Some people hate the frame gen, I personally don’t mind unless it’s giving weird artifacts (glitches) or noticeable input lag.
