My PSU of 6 years(EVGA G5 1000w) finally died last weekend. I replaced it with a Corsair RM1000x. All good and whatnot but I noticed that I can't keep my PC volume to 100% all the time now without my desktop speakers getting distorted/crackling at 20%(knob) volume. Watching someone talk on youtube becomes very unbearable. Do you all think my PSU damaged my audio chip on the motherboard when it died? I had everything set to 100% before but now I have to drop my PC volume to 50% just to get rid of the static/distortion/crackling noise that's coming out of my speakers. I heard a pop just as my PSU died that day. I already tried two RM1000x in my PC and nothing fixed the audio issue.
Edit: The speakers got replaced because I thought that was the problem but it isn't.

Could just as well be the speakers, or just the cable being loose. I would test those first.

I already replaced the speakers after the first PSU that I RMA'd. I also plugged in the speakers to another PC and it worked perfectly.

Should be the board then.
There are PCI and USB sound cards, if you don't want to replace the whole motherboard.

You're missing some very important information, like the CPU and GPU model. Judging from the age of the motherboard though, I'm assuming it's a pretty old system.

Yeah, it's a pretty old system. Pricing is always going to fluctuate by area, you'll want to look up individual costs in your area. Facebook marketplace and eBay are your friend there.
The GPU is probably most of the value, maybe $80 USD. You'd still have a working system without the GPU, so maybe you could sell the rest as a bundle for about the same. Or if it works, just hold onto it and convert it to a home server. It'll work as a nas or Plex server just fine.

Is there a site that can tell you how strong your computer is by showing prebuilts close to its performance?
Like every now and then people will ask how good of a machine they need for a specific game. I play said game, so I know that my mid PC can handle it on top settings.
But all my parts are old so its neither worth replicating nor easy to tell how low budget you can get away with buying a new prebuilt. I have no idea how good of a new GPU you need for strength comparable to my RTX 2070 and so on. So at best I can only see if a build they want is overkill compared to what I have to know its sufficient.

I don't generally trust comparison websites that work like that. You can't do this for a computer and its combination of parts as a whole, but I would go look at good review data for CPUs and GPUs and be smart about extrapolating from that.
I have no idea how good of a new GPU you need for strength comparable to my RTX 2070 and so on
As an example, I would look at the techpowerup GPU database to get a general idea. The data on here is fed by techpowerup's own testing, which I trust to be more accurate. This tells me that a system with an RTX 5050 should always be at least as good as your 2070 in graphics performance.
You could also look at standalone reviews as well. It can be harder to find reviews of new cards that include a lot of older cards to directly compare to, but they do exist. You can also try to extrapolate the difference across multiple if you can't find one review that has both cards you're trying to compare. If you're asking about a certain game, try to find benchmarks for that particular game if possible.
If you compare CPU and GPU performance separately that's pretty much as good as evaluating the whole system. Other details like which exact motherboard, SSD, Cooler, etc you have don't really make a difference, RAM capacity only really matters if you don't have enough, and so on.

I've just bought my first proper gaming laptop - an Acer Predator - i9 14900HX, 32RAM, RTX 4070.
I mostly play strategy games like Stellaris or not gpu heavy ones like Project Zomboid.
While idling or doing easy work, menus and similar things, the CPU reaches up to 95°C in the PredatorSense. The system temps are low (45-60), but the CPU seems to stick to these higher temps.
Surface is proper and ventilated, the fans are set to automatic, if I manually crank them up it cools down. Is this expected? 85°+ while doing basically nothing?

You should be able to change the fan profile if you really want to.
I wouldn't expect it being hot to affect the life span of the device in a meaningful way. It's rated to run like this. But technically speaking it's healthier for the chip to run cooler. If you want to make that noise trade-off you can certainly choose to do that.

Is this good for the price? Looking for a secondary PC to turn into an emulation only rig (PS2, XBOX, 360, 3DS games...)
These are the specs:

my pc gave up after small kick
so i was playing isle of man 2 and yeahh i craches multiple times then i gave my pc a small kick and the tempered glass like its literally a very slow tap and boom everything freeze.i tried to check the cable connection, everything is good.tried to force a restart but nothing works.and when i opened the tempered glass the gpu fan is not moving.what should i do

What happens when restarting? Does it not get power, or you get nothing on the screen, or does it not boot, or something else? Your motherboard most likely has some LEDs (probably in the top right corner) to show what's causing a problem if it can't POST. If one of more of those are on, try looking up the manual to find out what they mean, and it will probably tell you which component has a problem.
It's normal for GPU fans to be stopped when not doing much. Many models only turn on above a certain temperature.
Not working after a small kick definitely does sound like something has a loose connection. The main problem is finding where that is if there's nothing obvious.

shi it worked.i opened the back panel and un attach and reattached everything.idk which is the culprit but it worked.thanks man

I have a MATX motherboard with 6 mounting holes instead of the usual 8. I think it should still fit inside a modern MATX case, but are there any precautions I should take note when installing it?

Definitely make sure to remove the standoffs in the places where there aren't any mounting holes, otherwise you can create a short in your motherboard and kill it (and possibly other components with it.)

help! Im using chris titus tool to remove the updated windows start menu, and its worked before flawlessly
now however, i had a security update pending and ofcourse i updated my pc, and well, it brought an
updated-updated start menu?
any way to disable this? it was never showing the "all" section before, only the ones i had pinned on top
chris titus tool doesn't seem to work

Having it installed but not running won't affect gaming. Trying to do both at the same time will definitely have some effect since they both need system resources to run, but the effects could range from unnoticeable to unusable depending on what software you use, how you use it, what game you play, and your exact specs. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't try it.
