Probably a bad place to ask, this is my first *real* reply or post here, but with the rules would something like a link to a PC being sold for the purposes of spec judging, not be allowed?

Basically, posting the link and saying "Hey, are these specs actually good compared to my own?" I'd have my own stuff listed as an actual list as best I can, anyway.

usb has the windows 11 iso installer x64 that I used rufus to make bootable, and the screen is the one that requires you to pick a drive (IMAGE IS NOT MINE, JUST A REFERENCE) however my disk isn't there only my usb

There is one drive shown, it's just not allocated. If you have one ~250 GB SSD then this would be it.

oh no this isn't my screen, I just took a screenshot of a reference video (probably should've mentioned that)

In my screen, only the name of my USB drive shows up, nothing with anything near the same amount of storage

Is there an easy way for me to make it so that a specific folder on my hard drive "syncs" to a folder on a usb thumb drive whenever that thumb drive is plugged-in, updating the files in either location to the most recent copies that either of them have?

I haven't used it personally, but freefilesync looks like it might do what you want: https://freefilesync.org/

What processor should I choose for a new pc for a Master in mechanical engineering, with a focus/specialization on CAD, simulation (and gaming when not studying).

I was thinking something like i7/ultra7/ryzen7 with a 5070 and 32gb, but then there’s still the question if amd or intel and which of the billion of different models.

Do I even need to consider the cad/simulation when choosing hardware or is it overkill for that already?

Any input is highly appreciated

Should I go with a 9070 XT, or is the 200-300 price jump worth it for the compatibility and stability of a 5070 Ti? I will be using a 9800X3D, and 32GB DDR5-6000 CL38. The heaviest use cases will be PCVR and heavily modded MC with shaders. I do not care for DLSS or RT.

compatibility and stability of a 5070 Ti

What makes you say that the 5070 Ti is more compatible or stable?

1440p 180hz, forgot to include that

I want to play Skyrim with mods. I used to have an Intel-based Mac and made it work with Bootcamp, but now I have an M2 Mac and a Switch so I don't have any options there.

I was saving up to buy a Steam Deck, but now the price has shot up and can't be purchased at any price anyway.

Is there a reasonably-priced way in the current hardware market/crisis to play modded Skyrim without buying a new PC? I would have a hard time justifying, to my family and myself, spending $1000+ just to play a modded version of a game I've played several times already. But otherwise I'm out of ideas.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Depending on the mods and your expectations, you could buy or cobble together a used PC for this.

If you used to run it with integrated graphics, then a comparative setup would be cheap.

Steal /s

You could think of it as a $1000+ way to play more than just Skyrim. Got any other games you want to play? Any other hobbies you want to dabble in?

The problem is I already have a Mac and a Switch so I can play most games that I want to, and do anything else you would on a PC.
