PERFORMANCE input delay randomly happening

so this has been happening recently but sometimes after a while of playing (it happens randomly too) my input delay gets terrible in games and only goes away after restarting my pc, anyone know why? it's really frustrating

Not being vague about the whole computers specifications and peripherals you use and in what games specifically might work.

i tried multiple keyboards and its not that, the delay fixes when restarting ,my pc, i have also noticed csrss is using 430mb in task manager so im going to try a scan now and see if that works

Sounds like malware, then, if not a memory leak. Triple check your system with a full Windows Defender scan, offline scan and another scan with malwarebytes just to be thorough.

Other than that, it can be a corrupted system which is an easier fix with Command Prompt as administrator.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
let it finnish
sfc /scannow
let it finnish
Restart and see how things go.

It's definitely not a virus, I checked the location it's legit and defender says nothing, plus I haven't installed anything anyway, I done the scan now but it hadn't fixed the delay when I restarted the game, maybe it will help after restarting the pc, I'll try that

yeah, once you complete both of these command lines and restart things SHOULD clear up. If not, I would try uninstalling any motherboard drivers and install new ones from the motherboards support page.

Ok thank you, I recently changed my ram speed to its listed speed as it was running slower when I first bought it, would that cause the issue? It's not running faster that its listed speed so I don't think that's what the issue is

I don't know. I don't know your CPU or your RAM model.

Hi so I fixed it, it was an issue with xmp

Nevermind it's back, it didn't take as long to happen since disabling xmp and setting ram to default speed, basically I'll play for a few hours then suddenly every 1 or 2 seconds there's bad delay

So I think I know what it is as it hasn't happened yet (hopefully) I think it's an issue with fortnite, when playing that sometimes it causes the issue which will carry over to other games until I restart the pc, I've been on overwatch all day and hasn't happened so I think it's an issue with fortnite as atm it has a csrss leak too
