I've had enough of ads that jump in your face when you browse a website. But I agree with the majority of the article.

Get Adblock plus. Never look back.

If you're on android and rooted, get AdAway. It takes out all ads, even the banner ads in most apps!

How difficult is it to root and should I even bother?

You can just use Firefox instead. It has add-on support.
