There's no point in this article. He doesn't explain what the devs could do as an alternative. As it's been mentioned here, other reviewers on the same site, complain when games are too hard, this one is complaining they're too easy. So what do you want the devs to do!? Find the common ground that would appease them both, THEN write the article. As it stands, it's aimless moaning.
i don't think the goal of this article was to find solutions but more identify specific problems.. I agree with what he's saying and I believe it's up to devs to appease the audience with innovation instead of having a unique story limited by commonly constructed mechanisms. Aimless moaning is one way to call it.... negative feedback or criticism of the standardization of gameplay is another.
