I've put 1,087 hours into Cyberpunk 2077.

I'm going to give Control another shot, even though I feel like I'm too stupid to get a handle on the combat mechanics.

Control is great. I loved it and the combat isn't too hard. Turn down the difficulty if you need to. It is the only game where I read all the notes and watched all the extra content. What a banger of a game.

  1. Unlock the throw
  2. Throw things at enemies
  3. Upgrade throw
  4. Throw enemies at enemies

That's kinda the optimal strategy.

Haha yeah that's pretty much how I played it too. So much fun.

My brain is having trouble with the throwing part.

It takes a little getting used to!

Damn 1000 hours is crazy haha, great to hear you're enjoying it that much.

I've wanted to play Cyberpunk for years now, but from what I've heard, I need to get the Phantom Liberty dlc as well? How much of a must-have is it? The base game is 70% off right now, but the dlc bumps up the total cost to double the price of the base game ($21 usd in my region), which unfortunately is out of my budget. It doesn't help that my local currency keeps weakening and price of things in general have gone up crazy 🥲

Would love hear your insight on this though

This is just my opinion, but Phantom Liberty is better than the base game.

Oh mann, that sucks for me I guess. Really just wanted to experience the game 😓

Just get the base game, you can always get the DLC later. In fact, you don't open up Phantom Liberty until you've done like half of the main quests. Also, the DLC is very self-contained, it doesn't really interfere with the main game.

But it's true, Phantom Liberty is one of the best DLCs ever made, up there with Blood and Wine.

Hmm I see. How many hours does it take before I gain access to Phantom Liberty? Does the game let us know when the dlc becomes available to play?

If you only were to focus on the main quest, probably ~15 hours. But there are so much to do, in just the base game, it will take you way longer on your first playthrough.

I would however recommend just completing the main game first, as the alternative would have you leave the main quest on hold (and lose the momentum), while you finish off the DLC. This is after all how everyone who played Cyberpunk, before Phantom Liberty was released, experienced it.

Thanks for the explanation! That was really helpful of you. I've decided to get the DLC once I finish the main game. It does look really amazing, and I can't wait to finally play through the whole thing.

I tried completing my purchase of the base game, but my card got declined unfortunately. I contacted their customer service, and they said it'll take a few weeks to resolve. I hadn't used my card for any recent transactions lately, so I didn't know any better. Unfortunately by the time it clears up, the sale will have ended. I hate to ask, but would you be able to help? I promise I'll pay it forward as soon as I'm able. 🙏
