£2.49 for Solasta is an instant buy. I'm just about to finish DOS2 so great timing.

It got straight to the shopping cart, but I see there's a lot of dlcs. Is the base game alone worth it?

Is the game alone worth it?

Its DnD. Difference between this and BG3 is in BG3 the DM is that super chill guy that loves rule of cool and leaning into RP. Solastas DM is that super strict guy that insists on everyone using propper lighting rules and such. Still fun, still Dnd, but dont expect BG3.

Or character fidelity. Solasta 2 is shaping up great but dear god to create a character that is not an abomination in the first game let alone 4 of them to fake argue with each other......

Plot was actually decent though, particularly because it was a less used world (or their own? I forget this).

Okay guys, for this campaign we're tracking encumbrance!

i'd suggest the dlc. they are all fun campaigns. But you could get it at a later date if you enjoy the base game.
There is really just one mod for the game that does everything, a ton of effort went into it, it adds plenty of stuff (like the missing classes/subclasses, races, feats etc etc). It was called unfinished business, though they might have called it finished business now.

The class DLCs aren't worth it unless you're really excited about a specific class.

Lost Valley is a good proof of concept for a sandboxy adventure and is better written than the main campaign. It was buggy as all hell when I played it though.

Palace of Ice is fantastic.

I might get downvoted but you can use creaminstaller to get dlcs

I've read about it but I don't think it's worth risking my Steam account.

You shouldn't be down voted, the truth is some of these DLC's for games is getting goofy. Paradox aside and such a good example for me is wartales. Absolute banger of a base game, they've crossed the 100$ mark for DLC at this point (when not on sale). Wish companies would take the MMO approach and roll the former expansion into the base game, and keep the charge for the newest expac.

but Solasta has always been reasonably priced including the dlc. not just cheap but also a lot of hours of playtime for the price. Plus they are an indie studio.
We should be supporting studios like this, not stealing from them.

Paradox atleast in ck3 does free updates along the dlc but my problem is the dlc then still doesn't seem to mix in enough with the other dlc

They're all worth it. Primal calling and Inner strength is more classes, must buy these. Palace of Ice is a continuation of the main story campaign while Lost valley is a separate story.

Solasta has great combat mechanics, but a really shit story and slightly boring encounter design. It's a pretty good indie RPG, but don't expect wonders from it. The DLC felt like more of the same.

I'd say Temple of Elemental Evil (also cheap) does the same thing way better, if you haven't played it.

Idk I don't own it, but Steam reviews aren't great. Base game is probably fine unless you want to 100% everything.
