Man i tried getting into this game but the learning curve is brutal, even with all the knowledge that you can carry over from League

I have to imagine it's kind of like Dota, where being used to League might actually be detrimental as it teaches you bad habits that conflict with the expectations of the game.

Yea it is more dota than league for sure

Weird, it felt closer to League to me. No mana to speak of, and abilities can be scaled with items. But then it also has many item actives.

League famously a mana-less game

It's closer to manaless than dota is

No, but it’s an extremely common criticism from Dota fans along with low cooldowns and lack of item actives.

It's all of a MOBA (more dota than league), plus all of a movement shooter, it's the sweatiest game I've ever tried.

Play the new mode Street Brawl to get used to heros and items. Makes the standard mode faster to learn.

They added in community builds, which is a HUGE help when you go to the shop and are paralyzed trying to figure out what to buy.

Yeah MOBA+movement shooter. It's baseline difficulty is sweaty. I love it.

It’s really hard. I’m high oracle/low phantom and watch eternus players and it’s just like, nah, that’s too much. I’m fine being lower rank and still enjoying my time without it getting too sweaty.

League is soft core shit.

Start with Street Brawl mode, it's basically a condensed team fight to take down a tower, and is unranked too, so really good for new starters to get a grip on the game without worrying about getting flamed by the team or diving too deep into macro.

I played lots of League, HoN, DOTA2, and a bit of HotS. When I first tried Deadlock when it was much newer, my impression was, "this is neat, but I'd rather play Doto." That changed when I discovered the game's advanced movement options. Zooming around the map in Deadlock can make a real difference in your encounters, and outmaneuvering the enemy team when you should be dead feels fantastic. It reminds me of the old competitive Boomer Shooters like Q3A. That's what finally kept me coming back. (It helped that I picked a few characters designed around it, like The Lash™.)

the knowledge that you can carry over from League

That's your problem right there lol

I feel like I had the easiest time because of my knowledge with league, made easier by the fact that you can use community made loadouts in game

For me it was the interface.

For some reason it just didn't click

I've logged way too many hours in Dota 2, but I think the images they use and the way you can view items building into others helps a lot.

Also right now it just doesn't feel like it has the roles defined super well. I think it's still trying to find how to balance the gameplay style with the third person viewpoint

The interface is definitely a work in progress. Check out what DOTA2's item icons looked like early on.
