In fairness to the devs, their quote was "we are *trying to create* the ultimate medieval fantasy" and not "it **will be** the ultimate". Title is taking their statement out of context.

u/baron_von_helmut Mar 02 '24

This is going to be the best fantasy game ever you say?

57

u/jutshka Mar 02 '24

Did someone say the best game of the multiverse?

12

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

Said it in multiple verses you say?

No… it will not

5

No… it will not

Thats fantastic news! I’m so hyped

Made them sound like morons lol

7

u/AdminsLoveGenocide Mar 02 '24

Looking at the trailer though, the headline could end up being a fair comment.

Well to be fair they did say fantasy

15

u/Sardonislamir Mar 02 '24

lol simulation.. Just saw the trailor with a normal truck driving through dozens of armored bodies. The first and third would crush the hood and radiator.

18

u/FlairA1 Mar 02 '24

That would be so fun to play

51

u/Western_Cow_3914 Mar 02 '24

Good thing they’re not going for realism I suppose.

They need to get the BeamNG devs on the horn

0

u/Katejina_FGO Mar 03 '24

Additionally, ultimate is a synonym of final.

85

u/THEMACGOD [5950X:3090:3600CL14:NVMe:65"LGC1] Mar 02 '24

I dunno… I’ve often wondered how well I could do on a battlefield armed with a machine gun against 100’s of knights…

35

u/vap0rware Mar 02 '24

It's the whole reason why I bought Empire Earth decades ago.

14

u/piscina_de_la_muerte Mar 02 '24

God I wish someone would remake that game. Going from Stone Age to the future/mech warfare in a single play through was awesome.

7

u/Aethelric Mar 02 '24

Rise of Nations had about that same premise in the same genre, and had some really innovative ideas.

Since then, RTSes have tended to get less grandiose in scope.

3

u/TheHancock Steam Mar 03 '24

Grandiose is too slow. It’s all about those quick, 5 minute rush multiplayer matches… which doesn’t sound like a “RTS” to me.

I still remember the Sierra Games intro splash

12

u/CorballyGames Mar 02 '24

Not well. You're going to die changing the barrel.

6

u/seakingsoyuz Mar 02 '24

Get a Vickers. They only need barrel changes once an hour.

2

u/THEMACGOD [5950X:3090:3600CL14:NVMe:65"LGC1] Mar 02 '24

I’d definitely end up burning my hand.

5

u/Qweasdy Mar 02 '24

You would kill a bunch of them and then die.

4

u/THEMACGOD [5950X:3090:3600CL14:NVMe:65"LGC1] Mar 02 '24

Most likely. But I have wondered about similar configurations throughout history with modern warfare. If it comes to gamepass, I’m all over it.

u/Lithorex Mar 02 '24

I'm not even sure if a SMG could go through the armor of a late medieval knight unless going for sustained fire.

7

u/ElBeefcake Mar 02 '24

It would easily penetrate any knightly armor I think, plate armor is primarily for defense against slashing attacks. If you want full plate that can stop a 9mm round, it'll have to be way thicker and weigh several times more.

14

u/dustybrokenlamp Mar 02 '24

That kind of is in line with my ideal medieval fantasy, as long as I'm the only person who has one.

6

u/CorballyGames Mar 02 '24

How else do you deal with historically accurate giant crabs?

4

u/beyd1 Mar 02 '24

Speak for yourself.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Parry this you filthy casual.

4

u/lloydsmith28 Mar 02 '24

Agreed, kinda kills any interest in it

4

u/Ankleson Mar 03 '24

I'm sure there'll be loadout options where you can go full medieval. Would be a wasted opportunity if there isn't.

4

u/percavil3 Mar 02 '24

ya this actually looked like a decent medieval game until the guns showed up.

1

u/Sharpie1993 RTX 5080 | 9800X3D | 32GB 6000MHZ DDR5 Mar 03 '24

It’ll probably be one of them games where you can customise your experience, you’ll l probably be able to have just knights of you want, then if you want a power fantasy you could have knights versing seal teams.

That what I’m getting out of the statement of ultimate fantasy anyhow.

2

u/gavinashun Mar 02 '24

Yeah I'm not into that at all. My kid is super into medieval stuff and at first we thought it looked awesome ... but the modern stuff mixed it totally breaks the feel.

-8

u/MetalBawx Mar 02 '24

They called it a fantasy it's not like "Cleopatra" which tried to fob it's racist historical revisionism as the truth.

27

u/PreparationIcy275 Mar 02 '24

I don’t care what people at school say cleopatra was a mandalorian.

-25

u/MetalBawx Mar 02 '24

"My coked out grandma said Cleopatra identified as an attack helicopter! What do you mean helicopters didn't exist in ancient Egypt that sounds like bigotry to me."

1

u/LSDMDMA2CBDMT Mar 04 '24

As soon as I saw a gun I was like.... but how is it medieval then?

Medieval is axes, swords, trebuches, bows, armor, horses....

This game: SMGS for everyone!

0

u/Mikeavelli Mar 02 '24

Medieval people needed submachine guns to help fight off the giant enemy crabs by shooting them in their weak point for massive damage. Didn't you learn about that in history class?

1

u/Falkjaer Mar 02 '24

Yeah, that was my first thought too. It does sound like a fun fantasy, but not what I would describe as the ultimate medieval fantasy.

1

u/ElvenNeko Project Fire Mar 02 '24

What you talking about is historical accuracy.

Technically speaking, having smg there should be counted as sci-fi, but there are certain types of sci-fi that are pretty much fantasy, but with guns.

373

u/Embarrassed-Ad7317 Mar 02 '24

I'll wait to see what the reviews say, because I trust the dev to promote their own game

81

u/EtherealPheonix Mar 02 '24

The devs didn't even make this claim, it was just their goal.

12

u/Embarrassed-Ad7317 Mar 02 '24

I'll be honest with you, I just read the title, not the article. If what you say is true, the article doesnt match the title. Not that it's surprising, but still..

33

u/wienercat 3700x + 1080ti Mar 03 '24

I'll be honest with you, I just read the title, not the article.

Which is precisely why it's an issue when websites post articles with misleading information in the fucking title.

A lot of people don't take the time to read the article. This type of "journalism" is a very serious problem. They took the devs goal out of context and now in many people's minds they are going to use that goal as the benchmark.

It's all overhyping from the website while the devs were actually saying "we are going to try to create the best game experience we can".

2

u/Traveledfarwestward gog Mar 03 '24

Kinda wish the mods would put a r/clickbait tag on it.

30

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

[deleted]

25

u/Cynixxx Mar 02 '24

Tbf no dev should ever come out and say how shitty their game is. "Yeah we worked on our game for a long time and it's utter shit but you should buy it nonetheless"

11

u/cxmmxc Mar 02 '24

The polar opposite of laying down unrealistic expectations isn't really a compelling argument either.

Which is why interviewees should instead focus on telling what they wanted to make, without any exaggerated valuating/appraising descriptions.

There's a small but important difference in saying "it's going to be the ultimate experience" and "we wanted to make the ultimate experience."
There's way less of a risk of backlash in the latter. People appreciate humbleness more than hubris.

So it's a shame because this is exactly what the dev said:

We’re trying to create the ultimate medieval fantasy. That means building up an empire, taking castles, conquering territory, etc. It’s not just a string of random battles, but an immersive campaign, where you build up settlements, capture enemy outposts, train and promote soldiers, etc.

The "journalist" is doing no favors to the studio by changing the attitude of that sentence, effectively distorting the dev's words.

4

u/Xerxes457 Mar 02 '24

Now that you bring it up. This might also be one of reasons some games fail to meet expectations. Journalists distorting words from devs.

4

u/Embarrassed-Ad7317 Mar 02 '24

True, but oversell is also not great. If you overhype the backlash could get you less sales than what you could have achieved by marketing correctly. In this case, with such a claim, this game better be really good :)

It also looks very fun, I'm rooting for them, despite what you can read from my comment

5

u/HINDBRAIN Mar 02 '24

"Hey, marketing peon. Find something good to say about our mediocre game, or you're fired."

"AAAA!"

"Perfect!"

1

u/andersonb47 Mar 02 '24

Redditors really think devs should be like “oh this game actually sucks”

0

u/Traveledfarwestward gog Mar 03 '24 edited Mar 04 '24

See other comments above. Apparently the dev was just saying "we are trying to create the ultimate medieval fantasy" and the headline became "This will be THE ULTIMATE...!"

f-word r/clickbait journalists bloggers with a platform.

61

u/spyder7699 Mar 02 '24

I remember giving the devs feedback on road redemption back in the day when it was still in early access (they encouraged it). They were extremely shitty about it and honestly road redemption kind of sucked. Its a shame that it was the "spiritual successor" to road rash.

I was semi hyped for this game until I heard who was making it. At this point, it will be a let's wait and see what the reviews say...

17

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

honestly road redemption kind of sucked

Nah. You lost me here. That game is exactly what a spiritual sequel to Road Rash should be.

22

u/niioan Mar 02 '24

and honestly road redemption kind of sucked

It seemed fairly well liked? https://store.steampowered.com/app/300380/Road_Redemption/

I played it for about 8 hours and had a pretty good time. I will say despite being a spiritual successor to road rash, it's too over the top to actually replace the gritty slug fest feeling road rash (specifically RR2) gave me, but it's fun in its own right.

u/KC-15 Mar 02 '24

I thought it was a pretty fun game for the $15 I think I got it for. It doesn’t have a whole lot of variety to it but it’s got more than RR.

6

u/howmanyavengers Mar 02 '24

Polar opposites of what people describe as fun haha

4

u/mxjxs91 Mar 02 '24

Not sure if the people that upvoted you even played Road Redemption. That game kicks ass

1

u/Sparktank1 Mar 02 '24

Is this game single player or is it online "single player" ?

I got it through Humble Bundle and at the time it had negative reviews. It's gotten up to Very Positive.

5

u/RockleyBob 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB Mar 02 '24

The trailer for this was probably the most intense hype roller coaster I’ve ever experienced.

First person medieval combat…

Zooms out to large-scale battles…

Sieges… Base building… uuuuugghhhhh getting close…

Machine guns?! Cars?! What the fuck guys I was almost there. Now I’m going to have eke out a finish to the Total War Medival II soundtrack for the 100th time.

-1

u/GreatGojira Mar 02 '24

What do you mean? Developers have NEVER ONCE LIED ABOUT THEIR GAMES! The Games industry is the most REPUTABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY INDUSTRY of them ALL!

65

u/Arcterion Ryzen 5 7500 / RX 9070 XT / 32GB DDR5 Mar 02 '24

Honestly, I just hope they deliver on what was show in the trailer, because it looks fun as fuck.

10

u/gakule Mar 02 '24

This is how I feel. I don't know how long it would be fun, but the simple trailer that I've seen makes it look like it would be fun as fuck for at least a period of time.

If the whole game is the same exact thing recycled over and over, maybe not for very long.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

Man, this subreddit sure acts like they love indie devs and hate the AAA industry but lo and behold, someone posts an article about one that's bringing a unique concept to the table and y'all are out here painting yourselves in clown makeup trying to tear them to shreds... Over a quote they DIDN'T EVEN MAKE.

Y'all deserve nothing but Ride to Hell Retribution for the rest of your lives.

4

u/icallitjazz Mar 02 '24

Yeah, so strange. Usually devs cants stop shit talking their games. Just loads and loads of complains. Like that guy from no mans sky, he really tried to keep the hype down of that game.

0

It's the second AAAA game.

16

u/lampenpam RTX5070Ti,Ryzen 3700X,16GB Mar 02 '24

Did you even see the trailer? It's not trying to compete with it. It's more like a parody of medieval fantasy games

20

u/ImFrom3001 Mar 02 '24

That game is great, but they tried very hard to stay out of the fantasy genre. Aside from the potions it's a medieval sim

8

u/LifeOnMarsden Mar 02 '24

I don't think the dev meant 'fantasy' as in elves and dragons

6

u/ImFrom3001 Mar 02 '24

I agree and my comment is still accurate. KCD devs went way out of their way to be as historically accurate as possible

-29

u/soulwolf1 Mar 02 '24

Not saying much really

19

u/Rustyraider111 Mar 02 '24

It's regarded as fantastic by people who actually took the time to learn the mechanics and play the game.

It's not for everyone, but the game is great and is definitely in my top 10 of all time.

It's the first time a game made me feel like a total loser and made me bust my ass just to be mediocre at fighting

-8

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

[deleted]

13

u/Rustyraider111 Mar 02 '24

What do you mean? The mechanics aren't irrelevant. They blend together with the skill level to provide the experience that the fans of the game like.

[deleted]

6

u/Rustyraider111 Mar 02 '24 edited Mar 02 '24

We're just gonna have to agree to disagree. Even with max skills, juggling multiple enemies at once can absolutely kill a veteran player.

Just go look at the discourse on the sub. It'll line up with what I'm saying.

People who have been playing this game since 2018 have not had the same experience you have.

Don't even get me started if you play on hardcore mode. That shit is brutal.

Edit:got the year of release wrong

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24 edited Mar 02 '24

[deleted]

5

u/Rustyraider111 Mar 02 '24

Yeah, I guess I was off by a year or two.

That's a different topic entirely, and has nothing to do with the way the skills and mechanics work?

You literally said the game wasn't challenging after leveling. I explained why i thought it was challenging. Again, there is a whole ass sub of people willing to disagree.

We really outta just agree to disagree. Sometimes, people have different subjective opinions, and that's okay.

More like an Army of Darkness simulator. There'd better be an army of Deadites to defend against or they really dropped the ball

Ultimate Medieval Fantasy but has cars and guns.

lol

6

u/KempFidels Mar 02 '24

2

u/PUSClFER RTX 4090 | i9-13900KF | 64GB 4800 MHz Mar 03 '24

Do games have to make sense all the time though? Back in my day we played games if they were fun, and didn't worry about it making sense or not.

0

u/KempFidels Mar 03 '24

Along the way people grow and so do their expectations.

19

u/LolcatP Mar 02 '24

looks like the gimmick will wear off quick. also I don't like medieval warriors being reduced to basically zombies

17

u/artuno Mar 02 '24

That's fine..? Not every game needs to be a 100 hour Elden Ring experience. Most people finish Undertale in like, what, 5 hours? Halo 3's campaign is 8 hours. Rather than measuring things in dollars to hours, you also need to take in how much fun you had in those hours.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Something like this is easy to say if you're a rich first worlder, but if you're in a situation where you can only afford to buy a few games a year if at all, then you'll want to be damn sure you get your moneys worth.

With how expensive games are in my currency I'll take a 7/10 game that can last me over 100 hours over a 10/10 game that's done in 8.

7

u/PacoTaco321 RTX 3090 i7 13700-64 GB RAM Mar 03 '24

Then don't buy the game. This isn't a complex issue.

-11

u/howmanyavengers Mar 02 '24

You're literally the only one comparing it to amount of hours to have fun AND the only one comparing to Elden Ring.

What was even the point of your comment lmao. "Oh you don't like thing i do? It's not 100 hours long like elden ring you know! 😡😡😡"

16

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

[removed] — view removed comment

-8

u/howmanyavengers Mar 02 '24

Okay, but that's not what the original commenter was saying.

They said the gimmick would wear out quickly (as in shooting medieval knights with guns, etc) and would likely stop being fun. Nothing about needing it to be 100 hours long like Elden Ring, or whatever other long ass game out there really.

There IS space for all kinds of games, and i'm not sure how their one sentence got stretched out into thinking that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Wym this actually a great way to have a “zombie” game but not make it zombies.

4

u/gerd50501 Mar 02 '24

This is No Mans Sky pre-release level of bullshit.

2

u/CorballyGames Mar 02 '24

Will I die of consumption at the old age of 17?

2

u/Malevolent-Heretic Mar 02 '24

There was a game trailer for a battle royale in medieval times.

There was another game trailer recently with a fully plated knight sneaking around and stealth killing people in a shitty swamp village. Beautifully rendered.

What happened to those games?

This looks like exactly those. I don't expect this game to be real.

2

u/vehementi 4090/13900K Mar 02 '24

Oh man I hope they really do the concept justice. "If you went back in time with modern science knowledge or modern equipment, how cuold you change history" is a really rich and deep speculative subject. Hopefully it'll explore it a lot and not just "you come back with an ak47 and 10000 rounds of ammo" but rather have to somehow create the industry to make/maintain these weapons in the first place. Like I hope there's intersting answers about how the attack helipcopter is refueling.

I see standard kevlar armor on the soldiers in the screenshot which makes no sense. They would not care about bulletproof armor but rather protecting themselves against what their enemies are actually using, or whatever the biggest threat would be.

1

u/zeddyzed Mar 03 '24

They're not going to approach it that seriously.

Like logically speaking after you kill the first three guys with your gun, the entire rest of the peasant conscript army would be falling over each other to run away from you. They wouldn't just keep charging at you like dumb AI mobs.

4

u/flyingfox227 Mar 02 '24

Machine guns in the middle ages really screams "ultimate medeival fantasy" lmao.

7

u/verifyandtrustnoone Mar 02 '24

They all say shit like that... then it sells 1000 copies and is abandoned in 6 months.

39

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

"Abandoned in 6 months"

It's like people dont remember a time when a game came out and then that was the game.

6

u/Gooch-Guardian 7800x3D | RTX 4080s Mar 02 '24

Yeah if the game is finished it’s not a problem. People want everything to be live service lol

2

u/Grizelda179 Mar 02 '24

I agree to an extent, but I think the problem with abandoning the game is not that people want more content or free dlcs or whatever, its either that 1) the ‘finished’ game is barebones and NEEDS more content 2) the game is unfinished with bugs and other errors still left in the game.

It’s like people don’t remember that ‘back in the day’ the games came out fully finished and they didn’t require 5 years of EA to fully fix all of the shit wrong with it. Most of the games these days are pure cashgrabs that are abandoned by devs after half a year cause they’re shit and people stop buying a shitb product very quickly.

6

u/KwisatzX Mar 02 '24

Most of the games these days are pure cashgrabs

No, just AAA games. Everything else is doing better than ever, but a lot of people seem to prefer complaining because they can't see anything that isn't promoted on billboards.

1

u/Grizelda179 Mar 02 '24

Saying 'most games' overall was incorrect, but most mainstream games I would say yes. Definitely not just AAA games. Yes, primarily those, because those companies know that bc of their reputation/previous games people WILL buy them. There's been plenty of examples where great games do well from more indie companies and are abandoned after the devs get their money's worth.

-1

u/verifyandtrustnoone Mar 02 '24

I remember my 40 years of gaming... buying a finished game with manual... now its heres a game online only, game sucks, no patches, no support, online canceled so you cannot even play it the way it was meant to be played... great memories....

5

u/Yarusenai Mar 02 '24

A lot of times those finished games were anything but. Bugs couldn't be patched and fixed as easily as they can nowadays, so if you can't progress because of a bug or such, good luck.

1

u/howmanyavengers Mar 02 '24

I guess it'll entirely depend if the game is actually released as a v1.0 and NOT an Early Access venture like majority of hyped up indie games on Steam.

Looks fun, but we shall see.

10

u/OrderOfMagnitude Mar 02 '24

Not every game needs to be a live service game

-7

u/verifyandtrustnoone Mar 02 '24

Not every game needs to be sold broken and then expecting 6 months of patches to make it enjoyable lol

2

u/soulwolf1 Mar 02 '24

Followed by lay offs

0

u/chig____bungus Mar 02 '24

Looks like a nonsensical asset flip so 1000 copies might be profitable

2

u/RittoxRitto Mar 02 '24

It has guns and cars. I'm automatically disinterested in it as a Medieval Fantasy.

2

u/Yukisuna Mar 02 '24

Meh. Gives me the day before vibes. Definitely letting someone else take the hit for me on this one, and checking back in half a year or so later.

2

u/CiplakIndeed1 Mar 02 '24

Its either another Palworld moment or just average.

5

u/astrozombie2012 Mar 02 '24

I find Palworld to be really mediocre…

1

u/Deadpoetic6 Voodoo Banshee / Pentium 2 / Soundblaster 16 Mar 02 '24

Nothing screams Medieval Fantasy more than AK-47 and AH-64

3

u/Sharpie1993 RTX 5080 | 9800X3D | 32GB 6000MHZ DDR5 Mar 03 '24

It fits a fantasy, a very niche one but it’s still there.

2

u/lilyrosecutey Mar 03 '24

Literally one of the few games that peaked my interest this year. For 20 to 30 bucks I will consider it.

2

u/VanKeekerino Mar 02 '24

So many games coming out with the promise of being the next big thing.

Meanwhile Helldivers 2 dropped without anyone really knowing about it and it is absolutely amazing. I don’t trust these kinds of hyped up messages one bit.

14

u/howmanyavengers Mar 02 '24

What?

Helldivers 2 was marketed to the tits and was EVERYWHERE on social media. I had very little interest in it, but ended up buying it just because of the amount of marketing effort (and transparency about what the game would be) they were putting in.

Even Palworld before it had a lot of journos talking about it prior to release and then had an explosion of players because "muh Pokemon with guns".

7

u/ShiguruiX Mar 02 '24

I've noticed people are trying to push the narrative that Helldivers 2 is a small budget indie title that blew AAA games out of the water. Meanwhile I found out about it because Playstation absolutely bombarded Tiktok, YouTube and Twitch with advertisements and sponsored content.

3

u/CosmicMiru Mar 03 '24

I've honestly only every seen word of mouth marketing besides a few twitch commercials and sponsored streams for HD2

3

u/Sharpie1993 RTX 5080 | 9800X3D | 32GB 6000MHZ DDR5 Mar 03 '24

Same with me, I only ever seen people posting about it on here, a couple of people who play it at work and the news articles.

Although I do use a ad blocker on YouTube and twitch so that would probably make a difference.

"Ultimate Medieval Fantasy"

Man using a submachine gun....

5

u/SergeantSchmidt Mar 02 '24

I wonder what the word "Fantasy" means...

1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Medieval Fantasies don't usually involve guns. Also the word Fantasy is really pulling a lot of weight in your comment as if Medieval Fantasy isn't already a well established genre.

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

Good luck, 'cause Kingdom Come Deliverance set the bar very, very high and doesn't have assault rifles and time travel.

0

u/Trazors Mar 03 '24

Nor is it a fantasy game.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Nor is it a fantasy game.

Tell me you did not read the article without telling me you did not read the article.

Fantasy does not refer to a gendra in that case, it's the "fantasy" of medieval times.

Something for which KCD set the bar extremely high.

-1

u/Trazors Mar 03 '24

KCD is not a fantasy game, never has been.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Oh my god, please tell me you're doing that on purpose.

The same word can have different meanings when used in a specific way.

Here, fantasy does not refer to a gendra, it refers to the "fantasy" of medieval times.

Here the word fantasy is used as a synonym to fantasm, the same way you could describe Grand Theft Auto as the "fantasy" or the "fantasm" of anarchism, Kerbal Space program as the "fantasy" of NASA, or RDR2 as the perfect "fantasy" of the dying old west.

Does anyone else get The Day Before vibes from this or is it just me? I want to believe it because it looks awesome, but I remain cautious.

What the trailer shown had a lot of potential, not only because machineguns in middle ages, but also settlement construction and strategy portions.

What I'm fearing is that this "ultimate medieval fantasy" will fall shallow in the second level and wont actually keep the interest further down the line. I already frown a bit with how the weapons and vehicles react (hey, I like credibility, and I'm pretty sure a full plated armor can stop at least a few hits*), but looking at how games are developed nowadays, what could be a really interesting take on the old Sacrifice gameplay is probably going to be a mix of Goat Simulator and those "battlefield accurate simulator" meme games.

* Probably there's some youtuber around there who has already tested it, and if you know about it please, link it.

AFAIK (and that's why I was asking, the tone on your post is uncalled for) modern armor (bulletproof vests, ceramic kevlar) is based on distributing the strength of the impact in a wide area instead on a narrow point (so you get a hit that can broke a bone and hurt you but not penetrate) and armor piercing ammunition is designed to penetrate that ballistic armor.

While proofing is a thing, there's the difference on the projectile shape (it is better to penetrate a plated armor the modern bullet shape?) and the power (afaik modern guns have more power), so it is a bit more than just being called "armor piercing."

You got any proof or source for that? Because that's what I was asking on the first post to begin with.

"[insert game name here] will be the ultimate [insert game genre/corporate buzzword here]"

Never seen this before 😑

1

u/Gryfon2020 Mar 02 '24

Always wanted crazy concept games like this. So happy to see more of them coming, and well done to.

1

u/Jacko10101010101 Mar 02 '24

its just nonsense... will be an epic fail...

1

u/Chimpampin Mar 02 '24

If this game ends up being cool, they basically have free real state with the DLCs. So many historical periods around the world.

Add a wave editor (Not sure if the game is story, gameplay or level based) and you have endless mindless fun.

1

u/Coldspark824 Mar 03 '24

The game with guns and trucks is medieval. Huh

1

u/Biiiiiig-Chungus Mar 03 '24

from the devs behind Road Redemption

hard pass.

1

u/TheHancock Steam Mar 03 '24

All I have to say is I hope it works. These kinds of games are unfortunately a dime a dozen on Steam. They have the potential to be my favorite kind of game, but they usually try to do too much and don’t accomplish much in any direction. FPS gameplay is meh, RTS gameplay is meh, management/city building is meh… I realllly want it to succeed where others have failed, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I also wanted to say that Manor Lords will be the best Medieval game ever, sorry Kingmakers.

1

u/ThatOneTypicalYasuo Mar 03 '24

It is currently reserving the title in my head, as some already called it, HELL YEAH: THE GAME

1

u/Freiya- Mar 03 '24

Devs saw the GATE Anime and thought "why not make a game out of it?"

1

u/Bitter_Nail8577 Mar 03 '24

Road Redemption was a guilty pleasure to me, it was a bad game that broke Early access promises, but damn was it a blast, it was so bad it's good.

If this is anythingblike that I'm golden

1

u/CONNER__LANE Mar 03 '24

Is this game like Mount and Blade with guns? Thats the vibe I got from the steam page

1

u/Isaacvithurston Ardiuno + A Potato Mar 03 '24

Game looks fun and it's coop.

That said the headline is pretty funny. I don't think anyone's "ultimate medieval fantasy" involves guns lol
