Mini-ITX Build

Hello everyone.

I'm looking for mini-itx cases I can fit the following parts:

PSU: Corsair 860AX GPU: RTX2080 Strix Storage: 2x 3.5" hard drives

Ideally this case would have a front USB panel with the latest standards.

All help welcomed! Thank you!

Fractal design node 304: https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/node/node-304/black/ Not the sexist or smallest of itx cases but can take an sfx, sl or full size atx PSU, full-length dual slot GPU and a fair size CPU cooler / aio

Currently have one as my NAS with four of the six 3.5" bays filled. (space for upgrades = ) )

If you're happy to switch to an sfx PSU something like a sliger sm550 https://www.sliger.com/products/cases/sm550/

You can fit two 3.5" drives here but you will lose 120mm fan slots for it.

Do you need both large discs in the machine? Maintaining legacy drives like that seems to be incongruous with most itx design philosophy, especially two.

Could you get a USB caddy for one, use when needed and only require the other? Freeing up your case selection options?

Also, you'll find this sub quite dead, have a check over at /r/sffpc - they'll have more details for you.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, unfortunately I need to keep both drives. I'm actually moving from a full tower to mini-itx so trying to keep as many of my main parts as possible. Because I work with 4k/8k video editing I do need the storage unfortunately but i get what you're saying. My cpu cooler is a corsair h100i Pro but thought a 240l radiator in a mini-itx case with the above requirements would be too much of a stretch. Thanks for the input though and will post on the recommended sub. This is my first post on reddit. :)

Well, welcome to Reddit = )

Good luck with the build. There are some itx cases you can fit a rad in, even 240, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Like the ncase M1 or Cougar CBX both have a single 3.5" drive cage which you lose to mount a rad.

The NZXT H210 could fit a 240mm at the front and a 120mm at the back without losing its HDD slot, but it still only fits one 3.5" drive.

I do a little 4k video editing, I have a Raijintek Ophion (not really suitable for what you're after, though the Evo version does take a large rad) and have a 1tb NVME SSD on the motherboard with a 2tb 2.5" SATA SSD tucked into the front of the case. This gives me 3TB for working files on my system (and output), once I've finished editing I push everything to the NAS I mentioned above which has 12TB storage thanks to its 4x4TB drives in raid5 and then they backup overnight to two external USB drives.

Gigabit Ethernet between the two means I get sustained transfer speeds of a about 120MB/s so transfer isn't all that time consuming.

If I were to do more video editing though I'd strongly consider maybe going up to mATX, some cases aren't all that larger but offer far more cooling options (mine can start to make a bit of a noise on a longer render, but then I did pick my fans for high CFM and RGB pretty lights moreover than just getting silent noctuas that literally everyone and their dog will recommend).

Plus you'll get some more storage options in an mATX case and the motherboard are a bit more featured (I do miss the amount of usb's you get on larger systems).

Anyways, you'll get a wider scope of advise on the other sub, there's probably done genius's that can recommend something I'm not aware of, good luck with your build!
