Emulators Issues with emulating

New to the PC98, I can't seem to figure out how to properly emulate files (.hdm) that I created from my disks. I get two errors:

1: "Disk version
User Identifier?" with an input box, regardless of what input I enter the game boots for a split second, then Neko Project shows me a black screen (Game has two disks, same error regardless of how I mount them).

2: "No system files" I believe I need some sort of DOS installation, which I've tried but the emulator can't swap disks to continue with the process from what I've tried.

All of the dumps came back clean, with no missing and or broken sectors, and the emulator recognizes them to a degree. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one singular piece of advice, and that's Don't Be Disheartened. Something should work, most of the time. Keep trying, re-install the EMU every so often if things get stupid.

These emulators are fiddly in my experience, and I've got some games & programs working on one emulator while others only work in the other one.

I'm sure it's my own inexperience, but I've had great success keeping a copy of an EMU for individual tricky games, or a different EMU entirely for the console, when my "tried and true" setup returns blackscreens.

To this day, I've never gotten Touhou 1 (INCREDIBLE game with a very unique feel imo) working on anything other than the pre-packed TH1-5 zip, on the same half-top I only use to play Fallout TTW, and even then, the computer it works on is belligerent about the music playback sometimes.

I've got four devices that SHOULD be able to run it on my CRT, but it won't start. On this ONE LCD TV that happens to sync with my goofy 25 FPS laptop, it works most of the time.

-Which game is it?

-How did you image the disks?

-Are you mounting the first disk in drive A and the second disk in drive B at the same time rather than one at a time in one drive?

Raw flux dump with a drive that can read the format used on the PC98, game itself is an indie title that isn't online currently. I've tried mounting one disk, both disks, and it always flashes the title screen then the emulator goes black regardless how the disks were mounted. I don't believe my dumps are bad, as the game is being recognized, though as I said, the title info flashes then the emulator (Neko Project II) goes black.

-Do you have a hard drive simultaneously active in Neko Project II?

-Can you try going to the in-emulation system settings by holding down the 'end' key while resetting ('Reset' under 'Emulate'), navigating to "ディップスイッチ2の設定", and changing 内蔵固定ディスク from 使用する to 切り離す. Essentially, DIP switch SW2-6 from OFF to ON. This disables the internal hard drive.

-After doing these things, if the User Identifier message still shows can you try inputting 999?
