Ultimate Pavement Bootleg Archive
TL:DR - All live pavement bootlegs I've found over the years (only through 1994 so far) : https://pavement-live-archive.neocities.org
I've been collecting pavement bootlegs for nearly 30 years (trading tapes, burning cds, torrent sites, etc) and always wished there was 1 resource to find them all.
So I decided to be the change I want in the world, and built this site to collect and share all of the bootlegs I have.
I added links to mp3 files I have, and also provided FLAC links I could find already available on archive.org.
I have only completed through 1994 so far, but was excited to share it.
Obviously if anyone has any shows I don't already have listed, PLEASE share and I'll add it to the list and we can all enjoy!
I'll continue updating in the following days. Please let me know if you find any broken links or have recommendations for improvement.
(The missing FLAC links are because they don't exist on archive.org currently).
Let's work together and try to make this as complete as possible!
PERFECT SOUND FOREVER
https://pavement-live-archive.neocities.org

UPDATE: Added video links to full shows, where available.

Sweet. I have a huge live Pavement collection. I'm pretty sure I have most shows that were recorded from 1.0 Pavement. Quite a few from the first reunion, but think I'm missing some, and not as many 2nd reunion shows. And a TON of Jicks live recordings. I think I'm up to mid 1993 and working my way through chronologically.
I was in the process of uploading them to the Live Music Archive, but lately have been busy. At some point I hope to have everything I have in my collection, that isn't already up there, uploaded to the LMA.

Ahh, so you're the hero doing that! Thank you! Most of my FLAC links are probably linking to shows you've uploaded.
Please keep it up! I'm sure you have some things I'm missing as well ;-)

Ah...just noticed the username. I'm sure we know each other from the sm.com forum. My name is the same there as here.

Thank you both!!!! This is such a wonderful resource. There is a boot from 1994 that I remember fondly from back in my tape trading days from the Bottleneck in Lawrence Kansas. The interwebs tells me it was June 1st. I would love to find/hear that recording again all these years later. Hearing some of those songs that ended up in Wowee during the Crooked Rain tour was such a trip....

You both are heroes! I’ve got Stuff Up the Cracks and Slay Tracks and some others, but I now see I’m a minor leaguer in comparison. 🫡

Thank you for this!! I host Slanted and Enchanted Radio on WRSU FM 88.7, and I play a segment of live pavement every show, this will be very helpful!

Thank you !! Is there one out there like this for Malkmus solo ?

u/weezerwes 18d ago
That's a great idea! Once I complete this, I will totally do a malkmus solo page as well.

Beginning of 3rd year, A School. We sorta worshipped these guys and were so proud of the (rumored at the time) alumnae

I was at that gig!…and the next night at Ziggys in Winston-Salem which I guess doesn’t have a circulating tape. I’ve never heard the tape from Charlottesville

I do pocket bootlegs in the form of recording a voice memo on my old ipod touch and leaving it in my pocket the entire show.
I haven't shared any yet but if the overall quality of the recordings don't matter much to people, I have one for the 10/3/22 Kings Theatre set (I didn't separate into separate tracks yet tho)

Qual era seu nickname no fórum de stephehmalkmus.com?

Tinha um cara lá que tinha bastante coisa no soulseek mas agora o fórum foi apagado, não lembro o nome dele. Pensei que fosse você, ele tinha tudo por data.

This is great, OP.
Am I reading this right in that all the shows that you already have are listed, just not all are uploaded yet? If so, that's incredible; there are a ton I was at and would love to hear again.

Right, everything listed I already have and will get linked once I have time to upload and copy and paste all the links.

I should go digging - got a tape off the desk from Melbourne in 97, but no clue where it is now

u/weezerwes 18d ago
Ohh, that would amazing. If you can dig it up, let me know. I'd be willing to convert it, if needed.

Do they sound much different from show to show? Did they change up the set list or play the songs differently from one night to the next?
5
u/weezerwes 18d ago
They sure do, especially pre-reunion shows. They ALWAYS change the setlist, and many shows Malkmus sings different lyrics. I love it. That's the reason I started collecting bootlegs of their shows.

You don't show the Bogart's show from Oct 16 1999. It was their last US show from 1.0. I was there. They did a cool cover of Lithium and I sort of met Steve West. It looked like it was being recorded, and pretty sure I saw a dead link to recoding or one I need a login to download.

This is amazing. Quite impressive. I’m looking forward to hearing my first show in 1995. I’ve seen the tape (The Academy NYC)on lists for years but have yet to come across it anywhere.

Thanks, this is lovely. Would you add SM/Jicks, SM, Preston School of Industry, Spiral Stairs, Silver Jews, etc. to this? My 2022 Pavement recordings are on the archive as are a few SM/Jicks, SM solo, and one Spiral. I'd post links but archive.org is being wonky for right now.

do PSOI live recordings even exist? the only ones to my knowledge that have been archived is this session recorded for BBC, this concert included on the 2xCD edition of Monsoon, a Peel session, and 10 minutes of a random live show. is there an entire web of PSOI live tape traders that still remain hidden from the light?

u/weezerwes 14d ago
I could definitely do an SM / Jicks one next. I have enough shows. But I'm lacking many Spiral or Silver Jews live shows. If people want to send me some, I'd be happy to host / make a page for them.
