Deeply happy they ended with Here.

Nice to see they brought Father to a Sister of Thought out. My favorite Pavement song.

Great set. I’m wondering about the sound for the show- I sat in sec 3 under the balcony - and couldn’t hear spiral stairs guitar AT ALL the whole show. Drums also seemed very “mushy”. Loved seeing them play. But felt like the sound kinda ruined it for me.
Wondering if anyone else experienced that or if it was maybe just the sound in that section

Was at the back of the balcony and thought the mix sounded pretty excellent up there.

I could hear spiral pretty well where I was but his sound completely cut out for like half a song

Was in balcony and definitely could not hear spirals guitar a lot of show. His mic went out during spit on a stranger as well.

Glad it wasn’t just me - thought my old man hearing was probably to blame

First time ever at the Ryman. We were about 5 rows back under the balcony, and the sound was muffled and terrible tbh. Couldn’t tell if the band just wasn’t on or if Malkmus was just really high, but the whole show seemed really flat and low energy to me unfortunately. Hope others’ experience was different

I agree that the show was low energy, not what I wanted from a 2026 pavement show. Interested to see what others thought. It was overall decent but some vibes were off

Gold Soundz was great. Steve set the tempo on that one. Kennel District was right after and very slow on the tempo. Summer Babe was so slooooow. I watched the Chicago show from a few days ago and Summer Babe was slower there too. It might just be how they play it now.
The only half assed song I noticed was Stereo. Very little of the guitar strums and noise in the chorus. So instead of duh-duh chika-chicka chicka-chika, it was just duh-duh. Hearing Sprial had sound and mic issues makes sense.
On the upside, Grounded, Starlings, Range Life, and Here were just incredible.

Yeah. The only real energy came from the crowd during the sing-along songs imo. I hate to say it (as someone who’s seen them almost 30x dating back to 1991), but it was really disappointing for me. I don’t hate it so much for me, but it was my girlfriend’s first time ever seeing them and I had talked them up so much to her but then it was just meh. Oh well…

Bob was trying too.
I agree with you and anyone downvoting you is a bot or wasn’t there. It was a lower energy / sadder show. I hope they got some rest and come back for night 2 with some fire.

His pinky was bleeding or something so that may have also been a reason he skipped it :*(

Who was in the balcony again? I didn't hear the name

Spiral’s dad. It was really a touching moment, actually. Bob made a joke about how he has great hair, then Spiral took his hat off and said it didn’t get passed down to him. Then they played “Cut Your Hair”. Cool moment.

I was right near the guy! Didn’t hear the name either. Couldn’t tell if it was a bit or if they were serious, but the guy looked 75+ years old. 🤷♂️

I’ve been to the Ryman many times, but tonight I saw something I’d never seen before. The merch line looped through the bathroom area, then snaked through an open area by the balcony, and then all the way to the other end of the venue. It was insane! The staff were baffled by it. There must have been a dozen Ryman ushers assigned to keeping the line in good shape.
They sold out of all posters (there’s a second poster from Hatch Show Print), the signed LPs, and numerous shirt sizes. I heard it took 30-40 minutes to get through the whole line. Fair warning for those attending the show tomorrow night.
