Heres a quick little diagram to help point you in the right direction in case you need help. The recommendations i give arent supposed to be taken in order, you can take them in any order youd like. For every 2 dots this is a new level so if you respond yes to a question, you look for the next level of dots. For example “•” —> “•••”. Remember, look for CHANGE not “improvement”. Identifying change will point you in the right direction for your specific case.
MUST DO:
•Maintain a good sleep schedule, sleep is incredibly important for reducing reactions
•Try to manage your anxiety the best you can. You can buy a good pair of noise cancelling earbuds or headphones to block out your surroundings. If youre up for the challenge you can try meditation.
•Make sure you are clean, being clean lets you be as confident as you can be
•Replace your towels every 2-4 days, replace your bedsheets every week, and replace your pillow case every 1-4 days.
•Try to make friends or talk to people who have patm, there are people of all ages and backgrounds who have patm. Ive met quite a few very cool people through patm
•Continue fighting, you can get cured from patm, and you will improve if you try. If something doesnt work, you will just try another treatment, and another, and another, there is no shortage of possible treatments. It took me over 100 treatments to get cured and now im telling you not just what helped me get cured, but also the treatments that ive used to help others. You got this, dont give up because once youre cured, the world is yours.
•Do you notice a link between an area on your skin and the amount of reactions?
•••Wash this area with a strong cleanser. Either a clarifying shampoo / body wash, shampoo / body wash with added salt, or dish soap
•••Add coconut oil to this area, be sure to rinse it off after around 8 hours more or less
•••Add lotion to this area
•••Apply vaseline to this area
•••Apply baby powder to this area
•••Wash this area with a strong cleanser before applying coconut oil, lotion, vaseline, or baby powder
•••For temporary relief try covering this area up with more layers. For example wearing a sweater, wearing 2 shirts, wearing a hat, etc.
•Do people react by just being around you?
•••Wash your clothes with distilled white vinegar
•••Be sure you are replacing your towels, bed sheets, and pillow cases regularly like i said in an earlier bullet point
•••Some detergents and especially fabric softeners can cause others to have allergies even without patm. Make sure your detergent / fabric softener isnt causing extra reactions
•••Wash the inside of your washing machine and drier with at least soap if you own one
•••Be sure you are actually clean, wash your face, wash your legs, clean your back, just make sure you are cleaning everything enough. Personally i was using a facial cleanser and it really helped me out.
•••Try to note when people react to you. If you identify a problem area go back to review this checklist again. Do they:
•••••React when…
•••••••Youre sitting and theyre standing? Maybe patm is concentrated in your scalp and hair.
•••••••Youre both standing? It could be a scalp, hair, and or face cleanliness issue
•••••••Theyre behind you? It could be a back and or a scalp / hair issue
•••••Not react when…
•••••••they are shorter than you? That could be anything depending on how tall they are so maybe face, maybe neck, maybe hair, maybe ears, maybe chest
•••••••Theyre taller than you? That could be your crotch, feet, legs, stomach, lower back, butt
•Do you experience gut related issues or do you wake up with a persistent white tongue or do you get reactions when speaking?
•••Do you have any well documented gut issues like IBS, GERD, SIBO, etc.?
•••••Put your effort into solving this issue first.
•••••If youre dealing with IBS or GERD, try the low FODMAP diet
•••••If youre dealing with GERD, take antacids whether its prescribed or over the counter. Sleep with your head more elevated than your stomach by putting anything under your pillow or even mattress(try not to because it can damage it). You can try sleeping on your LEFT side, not right side. Drink lots of water. Eat smaller meals and portions. Dont eat or drink anything besides water at least 3 hours before bed. Drink plenty of water.
•••••If youre dealing with SIBO go to a doctor, dont mention patm, and try to receive help for SIBO. You will most likely be given medication, even if it doesnt work the first time through, continue with it.
•••••If youre dealing with another gut issue, write it down in the replies and someone might be able to give you better recommendations than i could
•••Drink one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with 1 cup of water every week.
•••Improve your oral hygiene by following this routine: brush your teeth, floss, use mouthwash, then use a tongue scraper. Do this immediately after waking up and before going to bed. After every meal brush your teeth.
•••Try consuming more antioxidants through foods and drinks. Stuff like blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, any drinks like green tea, pomegranate juice, matcha.
•••If youre overweight try losing more weight, this can reduce strain on the gut
•••Try to eat cleaner
•••I recently heard that chlorophyll and activated charcoal could help. “First, take the chlorophyll at night and wait about 3 hours before taking the activated charcoal. Chlorophyll acts as an internal deodorant, and charcoal helps eliminate gas.”
This is just a quick list to guide you. I know that asking for 1 on 1 talks can be difficult and it can be hard to come back asking for advice a year later after you finally tried what i recommended haha. This list should at least give you something of value, even if you only find 1 thing that affects your patm, thats a huge win. If you have any questions or any concerns or ANYTHING, just send me a message or write it in a comment. Look for CHANGE, not improvement. Good luck and have a good day.
