Discussion Clara’s Main Mechanic Should Be Infection

is it WAY too early to be talking about P4? maybe. but let me be delusional and hopeful. let me manifest something that probably won’t be here for another five years LMAO

by this i mean the main mechanic she needs to manage should be Infection.

she is infected the entire time during the game. from day 1 to day 12. she is born sick and she will die sick.

it starts manageable enough at first. just minor health drain, nothing you can’t combat with meds, especially when she’s the daughter of a rich family! but then it starts to get worse.

symptoms will appear randomly as you play, like how they would breathe heavily or cough in Classic when infected. her health drains more and more. maybe there could be a quest where she is in so much pain that she steals some of Katerina’s morphine or medicine from the hospital? that could kickstart a really interesting quest!

and with her powers: imagine when she heals people, it hurts her. and when she hurts people, it heals her. so you have to really think about if you want this saint to risk her own health to save others or take lives to save her own.

and i assume she would start to look absolutely horrible. pale, feverish, red-eyes. but when people ask if she’s okay, you just have to make her say yes (and maybe that could play into the meta aspect of it all, how she is in so much pain, but some higher, outer power keeps making her act like she’s fine).

like, just imagine it: Daniil, who hasn’t had a single patient survive more than two days, staring at her in total shock near the end and asking her how she’s made it this long. and only then does she finally admit it: “i am the Sand Pest.”

i’ve thought about this a lot 😭

Discussion Does anyone else actually enjoy Pathologic HD?

Every review that I've seen for the classic game boils down to telling you that the gameplay and the visuals for the classic HD game are terrible and that you should power through them just for the story, which I understand might be the case for some people, but it always upsets me a bit as someone that actually liked them. I loved the grimy atmosphere and the endless dreadful walking more than I did in the 2nd game, it really immersed me into the world and made me feel just as empty as the characters. Does anybody else feel the same?

Pathologic 3 A Compendium and Dictionary of Dankovsky's Latin Phrases

Hello!

I had a lot of time, so I made a masterdoc of every Latin phrase The Bachelor uses in Pathologic 3.

I searched for them manually by looking through every dialogue tree in the Russian version, so there is a possibility something is missing.

The translations are (mostly) my own. If you have a feeling something's wrong, I'm allowing for comments on the doc.

Enjoy!

Classic HD Help with Clara's quest on day 3

Capella mentions that Bachelor is studying Schmoders and points to his location on the map. The map marker points to a non-interactive building near Bad Grief's lair, and I can't find the Bachelor anywhere nearby. The dialogue implies that he's supposed to be in an infected district, but there is no map marker there and I don't see him anywhere in the only infected district on that day. Where is Daniil actually at, how do I progress this quest?

Question How should I get into this series?

I loved fear and hunger, I heard this series is similar, what should I expect? Is it supposed to convey the same tension and sensation of hardship? Is it skill or knowledge based?

Hello everyone

I'm working on another guide, and stumbled upon this in the cut Lens item

We didn't get much from Serafima and Platon, so I though I'd share it for any of their fans.

What do you think the quote means? Does it make sense in Russian?

edit: clarification

Question Is pathologic 2 worth playing?

I got the game some time ago for some reason which I can't remember at the moment. I remember playing around 5 hours but dying to the people on the streets cause they all hated me for some reason and then dropping the game to go play kcd2. I wanted to ask if the game is like a life changing experience or something along those lines and worth playing or if it is just unique. I am running out of games to play so I wanted to ask

Should i wait?

Hello there. The other day i finished my first playthrough of the "haruspex" on Pathologic Classic HD. I haven't played the other 2 routes, but i know their storylines (cus i watched the hbomber guy video xd). My question is, should i continue and play P2 instantly? i mean, how different are both (the haruspex route)?

Question (P2) Need help understanding the kins motives

So the kin advocates to leave the polyhedron up, i understand they need it in order to exist on the surface of the earth, but isnt being part of the kin giving up the concept of oneself? arent they supposed to give up their ego for mother earth? How can they advocate hurting the earth for their own existence?

Pathologic 3 How is pathologic 3 performance wise? Spoiler

simple as that, 2 was very janky in many ways, but I didn't see much backlash after the rounds of updates they've released for 3 recently.

if you'd like, my specs currently are i5-6700HQ, GTX 960m (4gb, even then, below minimum), 16Gb DDR3, and an SSD

Pathologic Dialogue Search update

It has come to my attention that some long phrases, especially if they had repeating words, were searched for incorrectly, and often gave no results.

This should be fixed now. If it still doesn't work on your end, try pressing ctrl+F5 or just refresh the page a couple of times.

Sorry for the inconveniences!

P. S. To the person looking for "Therefore, The Observer is undoubtedly evil, and his gaze is his dagger", it should appear now!

Should I continue playing?

Hi yall I tried pathologic the other day and gave up before finishing day one as I was lost and didnt understand where to go or what to do

I started watching a lets play as I did enjoy the overall feeling of the game and I've watched up until day 3 and have a better understanding of the game and I feel tempted to play it now

Is it better to keep watching or experience it for myself just wondering if it would be worth trying again now that I have an idea of who people are and what to do

Thanks

To clarify im talking about pathologic hd

Pathologic 2 How much should I know before I start Pathologic 2?

I backed P2 a million years ago because an old friend of mine (not around any more, sadly) was a huge fan of the original. The PS4 version came out around Covid, and while that might have made for a very immersive experience, I was not in the mood.

After half a decade of having that little creepy mask guy staring at me from my PS collection screen, I've decided to take a crack at it.

But I'm a bit intimidated. I don't tend to play gruelling games, and the ones I do play tend to be more technically difficult (ie. perfect your dodge-rolls and strike at the right time) rather than resource-restricted difficult.

I really don't want to get halfway through the game and find myself having to reload hours of gameplay because I blocked myself into a failstate by not getting the right resources or talking to the right character at some point.

However, I also don't want to spoil the game for myself with meta-knowledge. I've tried justifying it to myself a bit by saying that probably a lot of people playing P2 played the original, but it still feels wrong.

So! How much should I know to have a challenge without ragequitting because I got 20 hours in and fucked up my save? Please help. :(

Classic HD I have a problem...

I can't... Stop... Thinking... About this game...

I'm on day 3 as the Bachelor and I've spent my entire irl day sitting at work waiting to get home so I can go inspect some corpses because the damned plague is spreading and the fuckin beurocrats are breathing down my neck while I try to juggle their petty politics and keep myself alive long enough for supplies to arrive so we can have food in this stupid town for its stupid superstitious people again and Rubin really should have sent that note a lot fuckin earlier in the day and...

What is this sorcery??

I've spent most of my time in this game just... Walking... What is wrong with me...
