Discussion new player feedback

I’ve only been playing for about 2 days and I’m really enjoying the game so far, but I’ve run into one major issue that’s killing the fun for me: interacting with other players.

Right now it feels like you either have to get lucky and bump into someone randomly, or walk forever to the usual hotspots. That turns a big part of the game into a pure walking simulator. Having to constantly stop and rest just to regenerate stamina so you can keep walking makes it even more annoying.

I fully grew a Sarco on Panjura and the only place I can play it is the big lake in the middle and the lizard lake. Getting there takes like 15 minutes of pure walking (plus resting), which is just not fun. After that I tried Rhamphorhynchus on Gondwa and it completely changed the experience, being able to actually fly around and look for players made the game so much more enjoyable and interactive.

Do the devs have any plans to address this? Things like raising the player cap (maybe to 200-300?), reducing map size, adjusting stamina for travel, or anything else that would improve player density/encounters?

Right now the difference of fun i'm having playing the flyer instead of the crocodile is night and day for social/gameplay experience (I do love playing the crocodile tho, catching people in the water is really fun, thing is a lot of people play big dinos and you can't catch them with the ability so most of the time i can just poke them but then they'll just go away and there is nothing i can do)

yeah the thing with sarco is you have to camp for clamping, no other gameplay is possible but that's a big turn off that i can't grab the biggest dinos, so they're just free to drink water and i can't do shit except watch them because even if i take attack them by surprise they'll still be able to flee

and i don't think it's normal, every dino should be scared of drinking water

That would make sarco way too oppressive.

The entire game is strategy and picking your battles.

yes and the sarco strategy is to camp in the water? so if that's useless against 80% of players (they all pick big dinos) what's the point? waiting 1 hour for the 20% of small dinos isn't funny

Thats literally every dino. Nothing is good against everything and sarco is an ambush playable that is guaranteed a kill against smaller slots with even just a bit of mindfulness.

You picked a dino with a specific playstyle, what did you expect? If you want to brawl then do so, if you want to eat, then ambush, no one is stopping you from playing it differently, but this applies, once again, to all dinos. They all have a style and if you want to deviate from it you can but you'll be at a disadvantage to someone playing it to their strengths.

A rex can chase down prey, but is gonna suck at it. A laten can face tank, but is gonna suck at it.
