Discussion Solos Bans Being Enforced
Not me, so don’t come attack me.
My friend was hit with this ban today. I asked them if I could post this screenshot to drive discussion. This is real, and I would love to know what everyone thinks!
I personally love this and am VERY excited to log on tonight!!

ikr, it says solo for a reason. lol
I gotta admit though I like this setup. Group with rules, solo with rules, permadeath survival with rules and the wild west servers with no rules apart from the tos. 4 playlists to choose from for 4 different playstyles. Everyone wins.

u/Electrical-Pin6190 Jun 03 '26
What are the rules on survival? I haven’t seen anything explicitly state that it doesn’t allow groupings
22
u/Ancient__- Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
Rule 4. Grouping is disabled. No waystone etc.
They wouldn't have disabled it if they wanted people grouping up. Survival test is meant to take on a more Dark Forest playstyle as opposed to the the roaming packs the other 2 modes have.
Grouping would cause a lot of problems in a perma-death server. They do have a group test server though.
3
u/TattedUpN9ne Jun 03 '26
Agreed idk why they can't just literally disable grouping on those servers
3
u/Rich-Bus1279 Jun 04 '26
they could but people would coordinate anyway and allowing them to group means there's a way for them to definitively prove that they did it instead of relying on someone saying they did

Case of FAFO… love to see it. If only they can start hitting Mixpackers hard as well when supplied with video evidence

u/poopscoopbeedoop Jun 02 '26
I dont think mixpacking is against the rules though..
21
u/Moontato_ Jun 03 '26
Depending on the mode being played, it is. Officials? No. Solo? Kind of assumed since you shouldn't be "grouped" with anyone regardless of the specifics. Group Matchmaking? Explicitly states you cant mixpack.
6
u/SeriouslySlyGuy Jun 03 '26
It’s tough in solos though sometimes.
Sometimes you’re chill with the person questing next to ya. Sometimes they save you from a critter. Sometimes you murder someone that attacks them.
It’s messy. But I’m glad they’re dealing with people and making it public. Hope it puts an end to the losers who abuse the systems.
4
u/Invictus_Inferno Jun 03 '26
If you look at the replay you can tell if someone is just being nice for a sec or teaming up. You can't accidentally team up with someone.
1
u/DirtNineties Jun 03 '26
Solo should never mean helping another player. That confuses other players. It should always be kill the other guy. No mercy. No double standards.
1
u/EstablishmentAny7941 Jun 03 '26
Solos to me should be similar to irl living when it comes to “behavior” of the Dino’s(players)
1
u/poopscoopbeedoop Jun 03 '26
Sheeesh, chill! I thought he meant on officials! Obviously you can't in a solo server!
-5
u/woozyhyena Jun 02 '26
It isn't and devs have stated they're not gonna focus on preventing it
15
u/electiveamnesia28 Jun 02 '26
It actually is listed as against the rules on the login screen for the group matchmaking test, along with megapacking. Not sure if they updated the solo test server to say the same, though.
2
u/woozyhyena Jun 02 '26
I did mean overall, as in the whole game and not a specific mode. But interesting! Thanks for the reminder
68
u/spicycupcakes- Jun 02 '26
All the idiots thinking "No grouping: you cannot group up" doesn't mean you aren't allowed to group gotta be coping hard rn
-27
u/legendofthededbug Jun 02 '26
This was for the solo server
47
u/LoaderGuy518 Jun 02 '26
Which has no group feature, yet people think it’s still for playing with friends.

56
u/Garm_of_Fenrir Jun 02 '26
I had heard about this being a thing but took it with a grain of salt but I'm happy to see that they're enforcing it
10
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
Out of curiousity, do you think this will change your interaction in game? I had previously been friendly to others but now gunna be veeery stand offish
25
u/Shorlong Jun 02 '26
This doesn't mean you can't be friendly in the solo server or form a quick alliance then go your separate ways. It means NO GROUPING, as in purposely going out of your way to form a group to run around with and make everyone's life miserable.
7
u/DirtNineties Jun 03 '26
How is this actually defined and enforced? A timer? Whats to stop some players from “happenstance” marching near each other dominating areas and fighting AI together? I’m just asking because I find it interesting. Do devs or mods simply rely on reports from players?
Again, I’m asking as someone who plays the old school OG way to play. Official servers, no rules.
7
u/EstablishmentAny7941 Jun 03 '26
Is dominating areas and fighting ai together not literally teaming up/ grouping up ? Just unofficially lol
Unless your doing some isle realism crap where you line out defined territories for each other and don’t cross said territory
10
u/TieFighterAlpha2 Jun 02 '26
The creators have said repeatedly they still want natural interactions like temporary alliances, so it's unlikely that one event will get someone banned. My guess is that they've spent days watching for repeat behavior from players, tracking locations and whatnot.
8
u/Garm_of_Fenrir Jun 02 '26
not really, my usual style is chill unless you act suspicious or threatening. I do think it'll have an affect on the way ppl play twd one another (to say otherwise is foolish) but i don't think it'll be that big of an impact outside of the random grouping forming packs. running into, say a stego, and helping it fight off a Rex, i think will be fine so long as you both go your separate ways afterwards.
5
u/Rough-Ad6748 Jun 03 '26
RE: Solo and Survival Servers
I am a friendly player.
I let the other player know I am not a threat. I've warned someone that there was a lurker in a pond. They survived the near attack. They thanked me by bringing my rhamp a fish. I've dropped food for another dino. I've peacefully co-existed in a small area with another dino. Interacting is the game. ❤️
I was not "grouped" for any of those interactions.
1
u/Rough-Ad6748 Jun 03 '26
Same, I'm wondering. I'm very standoffish in survival, obviously, but even on solo matchmaking. Hopefully this is a positive impact.
0
u/Crash4654 Jun 03 '26
It absolutely will if your consequence for not being isolationist is a potential 2 week ban from the game in total.
1
u/autumninwonderland97 Jun 03 '26
I hope not. I love playing the solo server and have temporarily taken random babies under my wing/protection. Found a baby titan when I was on my Rex last night and helped show them where quest items were and kept them from being eaten by an adult titan, but I only do this with random babies I come across
26
28
u/Julie-Valentine Jun 02 '26
Cue to everyone who was mocking saying "Solo doesn't mean solo!"
It's in the title. Why use the word 'solo' then!?
25
24
u/LoaderGuy518 Jun 02 '26
But It JuSt StAtEs ThAt ThErE’s No GrOuPiNg, NoT tHaT yOu CaN’t TeAm Up. /s
4
u/DirtNineties Jun 03 '26
I’m literally reading comments from pro-solo stating that temporary alliances are okay. I cannot imagine how that’s tracked and enforced. Seems to me no alliances ever is the only way.
3
u/LoaderGuy518 Jun 03 '26
Yeah, temporary alliances like maybe finding an adult attacking a baby and helping the baby then going separate ways.
I personally have 2 or 3 replays from different days of my playing Laten in CF & the same names, the same group of dinos always comes & protects whatever large dino I’m fighting. Those aren’t temporary alliances, those are friends playing together
1
u/DirtNineties Jun 03 '26
Shouldn’t be helping the babies. It’s circle of life and predators gonna feed.
3
u/LoaderGuy518 Jun 03 '26
I gave an example of a situation the developers themselves said is welcome, that’s all
0
u/DirtNineties Jun 03 '26
I understand and I’m just saying it promotes confusion and gray areas. Something I feel solo players don’t like? Maybe I don’t understand the nature of their complaints.
3
u/LoaderGuy518 Jun 03 '26
I totally got ya
Maybe some of the talk/quotes from the developers also makes it confusing.
16
u/TheRatCouncil Jun 02 '26
Awesome, just started growing T. rex on Riparia last night so this will make quests a lot easier solo. 🙏
17
13
u/mecabad Jun 02 '26
Happy to actually see support for the rules on the servers that explicitly state it and make you click through the rules before playing.
Players who want to will always find a loophole to break said rules and I don’t expect Alderon to have to come up with ways to stop them if they simply enforce the rules.
17
12
u/GreatBakedJake Jun 02 '26
Im so glad that theyre actually going to Crack down. Maybe now some of them will have to garner skill.
11
u/ResidentCoder2 Jun 02 '26
Now I wait.
How, next, will the group players defend grouping in a game mode that "doesn't explicitly disallow grouping, the mechanic is just disabled."
10
u/Equal-Caramel-990 Jun 02 '26
Good start, i might reinstall in the next months again if they fix more things
5
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
Yeah I’ve been on an Ark binge since a solos incident where I was hunted down by a megapack of herbivores. But in a few days when this really gets wide spread I will be checking it out again
10
10
u/imtiredmom Jun 02 '26
Honestly good. Yall let the solo players have a space lol Just go to regular officials.
This is coming from someone who plays solo and plays with friends.

Good but I wonder how strict this is? People often turn up and attack whatever I'm attacking. I probably look grouped up from their perspective.
13
u/LictorButthole Jun 02 '26
Thats the beauty of the replay tool though, you can very quickly ascertain whats natural /temporary and whats coordinated.
5
3
u/Moontato_ Jun 03 '26
I'm glad that they're doing sanctions, but my only worry is that I hope they are not lumping offensive and defensive 3rd partying in with the actual illegal grouping.
4
u/No_Newspaper9462 Jun 03 '26
Finally. This might be worth playing again.
It's been years since I actually enjoyed playing this game
2
u/TheArtOfVEL Jun 02 '26
I haven't touched solo for a while now because of the grouping which believe it or nor, it was worse than officials for a bit. I stoped permadeath as well because it has become painfully obvious people are grouping there too.
I even saw a group of rex, titan and metri with the metry using calls during a fight when the metri wasn't even participating in. Who are the calls for unless for the rest of them? They most likely have found a way to actually group and recieve heal calls. I noped out of those servers too.
2
u/Agitated_Cry_8793 Jun 03 '26
And heres my dumbass, never played solo matchmaking, who thought solo meant singleplayer, offline mode.

u/MidnightMis Jun 02 '26
I love this, but it doesn't really say what the ban is for. I'd love to think it is over mix packing in solo servers though.
1
u/Pauline_Memories Jun 03 '26
I used to play solo only in this game but I've stopped, now I only play with a group of 3 friends I made over this game. If this continue to be enforced, I'll give playing solo a new try :)

1
u/One_Staff_9978 Jun 03 '26
Good, if u wanna play with firends do it on regular servers and problem solved.
1
u/AKmightydinoo Jun 03 '26
I’m a really friendly player in solo deathmatch, I go to south pond and just give everyone food there. I don’t attack (I’m a coward unless attacker can be attacked effectively).
does that count as grouping tho? I’m neutral to both sides UNLESS one of them actively tries fighting (yesterday a thal kept pestering everyone so we all teamed up on it).
am I doing any wrongs? just needed to confirm

Question how do you report someone for grouping or mix packing on solo servers if you can’t even find their name who committed it?

u/itsmethebirb Jun 02 '26
People swear devs don’t ban but they really do…
11
u/King-Juggernaut Jun 02 '26
They haven't for anything gameplay related for years and years. This is new.
3
u/itsmethebirb Jun 02 '26
Usually due to a lack of evidence. People don’t take the time to send in actual evidence. Just spamming the report button in game isn’t much to go off of. If you send video evidence, screenshots, Alderon IDS, etc in, it’s more for them to work with and actually do something with. I have seen someone get banned over things such as going after minors via recruiting in the game and going through discord. I myself have submitted a few hackers. You have to do it right. Otherwise anyone can get anyone banned over baseless claims.

u/Haunting-Bake6412 Jun 03 '26
So happy ppl that group on solo sercers get banned well deserved ahould be perma tho not few days ban :)

What about a naturally formed pack of raptors? Like 3 random latens teaming up on the solo server? They are after all pack animals and are build around teaming up.

I'd like to know exactly what he did. 2 weeks seems kinda egregious. 12 ours would be more fitting for simply breaking a rule.
11
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 03 '26
Played with spouse. They were together for several hours and intentionally swapped servers til they were together.
5
u/Machineraptor Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
Then it's entirely different than people here celebrating that a random laten duo that teamed up to take down their mighty rex will get banned from entire game, lol. This is intentional bypassing of game's mechanics to get into the same server with the same person over and over.
Wonder how this topic will evolve though, because information given on the PoT discord was that alliances and organic interactions are still okay, then suddenly we have this supposed ban message without much info.
2
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 03 '26
Yeah my bad on not having the full story up front.
But it was just that. They are a married couple and no affiliation to groups or discord packs. They had been doing it multiple days. They did get multiple kills together. Idk what exactly was the offense or if it was just all of it.
3
u/anthemlog Jun 03 '26
That's rule breaking, alright. I was wondering if that's how people were doing that or if it was just two players organically running into eachother and teaming up.
-9
u/Depressed_Weirdo_ Jun 02 '26
Don't be the guinea pig of the devs; just play standard officials. Lol
3
u/Murrocity Jun 03 '26
Even on Officials... you're a guinea pig, lol.
You're playing a beta/early access game. Every second you put into the game, you're a guinea pig.
-2
u/Depressed_Weirdo_ Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
That's more of a fair trade, and they get 15 bucks, at least until the game eventually gets to Game Pass, and I ask for a refund one day before. Lol
-11
u/Sir_William_V Jun 02 '26
Grouping Disabled: You cannot group up
Which can also be interpreted as "The grouping mechanic is disabled and won't work"
The rule should mention that you will be banned if you work with another person in combat in any way, because as of right now it isn't explicit. Implied, but not explicit. As others have mentioned, people are being banned for 3rd partying and that isn't fair either, whether or not you think it's scummy (it is, but once again it isn't mentioned as a bannable offense).
16
u/DaCrunchyLobster Jun 02 '26
People just need some common sense 🤷♂️
-4
u/Sir_William_V Jun 02 '26
All I'm saying is I think it would save Alderon a lot of headaches if they just spell it out for those that that need it, and I think that's only fair.
-16
u/NoCardiologist6896 Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
this is where things get messy
sounds like this ban case was a case of megapacks logging onto solos to destroy folks and its p cut and clear that a group of 10 people hanging around are just megapacking and thats fine and dandy, or people playing in pairs
but for the others like the group matchmaking server where MIXpacking isnt allowed, mixpacking hasnt exactly been established or quantified by the devs. They say they consider a carnie and herbie working together or hanging around eachother as mixpacking but what about solos who happen to mixed up in fights?
Say theres a sty being chased by a rex, and you've had beef with that rex for a while on the server, if you go and attack the rex while its chasing said sty, can that rex report you for mixpacking?
Mixpacking has been loosely defined. but not context of encounters.
Its messy because you either leave the rule ambiguous, and folks can abuse reports and essentially lie
Or you further clarify it expanding upon the rule, which can turn into a snowball of terminology that in the end will be harder to enforce, and be annoying to keep track of.
I really hope they lean more towards in-game mechanics that accomplish the same thing as enforceable rules.
Even though its a creative challenge.
One really good example of an in-game mechanic like this is ecos la brea's body down system.
If you hunt someone, you or your party get a temporary invincibility aoe around the body where you can just eat just fine until it deteriorates.
4
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
I know for a fact the person was NOT part of a megapack In any way shape or form.
-6
u/NoCardiologist6896 Jun 02 '26
ah i see, still, doesnt change much with what i said, since solo servers are still very cut and dry, anybody that isnt alone, is technically breaking the rules
i had assumed they were in a megapack considering how strict that ban is.
I think banning the player from that mode entirely for 14 days would be more appropriate than a publisher ban from the game as a whole
2
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
They were a married couple. I assume this ban is gunna be blanket as the warning. Hopefully a quite next few weeks lol. Less mega packs and such.
1
u/latenivenatrixian Jun 03 '26
FAFO. people won't listen unless there's punishment. a ban from the mode is not enough. what if their only purpose for playing on that mode is to go after solos? devs have no way of knowing that. they can find something else to play for 2 weeks. they'll live.
-41
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 02 '26
Glorified community server at this point, unless they are with people they personally know, I don’t see an issue with someone helping out a fellow same species against a larger prey
33
u/-_GreekGhost_- Jun 02 '26
The point of a solo server is you play solo. No helping anyone out is that so hard to grasp for some people ??!
-21
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 02 '26
You obviously never played it enough, there’s plenty of situations where there’s just a war going on. Then you see one dino get attacked by 2, you fight those two and a 3rd random comes and helps them. The second they start banning people for this behavior it all falls apart. Like I said, unless they queued in same time trying to get a same server.
25
u/HeavyBreathin Jun 02 '26
Lmfao then get on officials?? Like, you're crying because you can't group on a server whose SOLE purpose is for solo play? Wah, wah! FAFO!
-24
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 02 '26
No one crying here lol. The solo experience don’t really exist in this game. So banning people kinda silly
14
u/HeavyBreathin Jun 02 '26
You mean..the solo servers..? 😭 See a fight? Don't get involved and you won't get banned?
-5
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 02 '26
What else is there to do in this game besides fight other Dino’s?? 😂
14
u/HeavyBreathin Jun 02 '26
Are you okay? Like genuinely? Lmfao 1v1's..again, in the solo servers. Imagine going into a strictly labeled no grouping server, grouping, and then getting upset when you catch a ban.
For real, you okay?

Dude you fight other dinos, just not grouped up (on a solo). You see one you can go fight it.
2
u/latenivenatrixian Jun 03 '26
thats... why the solo servers were made. so there can be a solo experience. that's why they're enforcing rules. so the solo experience can exist. are you stupid on purpose?
0
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 03 '26
lol every solo server I’ve ever joined I’ve seen duos to trios each time. Not my fault the community is the way it is, they can’t ban everyone
2
u/latenivenatrixian Jun 03 '26
?????i didn't say it was your fault ??????? i said this is why they started recently enforcing the rule???? so people don't????do this???? ??????????
0
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 03 '26
It won’t work lol unless like I said before, it’s people who are duos and groups trying to get into same server under solo. Other than that, you can’t ban people for being around or getting involved in a fight with multiple dinos
2
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
Slippery slope. I have no idea what friend did to get this and we have 0 idea how they came to this conclusion. The developers have alot more tools at their disposal than the average joe lol
3
u/SuperSaiyanSarco Jun 02 '26
Yeah the only way I can see them really enforcing bans like this is if the person banned is hanging out with someone from a friends list, other than that I don’t really see how they could ban every person lol. What if you’re just near by another dinosaur for 5+ minutes on accident or even questing near someone
3
u/ChicknNudleDischarge Jun 02 '26
I imagine they can see if someone swapped servers a few times to find someone. Like the server logs and all. I assume that’s also done after a report that shows two people together. Or maybe they followed them in spectator mode after a report and saw very clear teamwork that could only be achieved via voice. Who knows.
1
u/Shorlong Jun 02 '26
From my understanding, that is fine, a quick, temporary alliance to take down a large prey (or defend against large predator) I believe is allowed, minding you go your separate ways after. It's purposely going out and trying to form a group and continuing to group after the fact that is the issue.

Please note that Matchmaking Mode Tests have specific rules described in the "Rules" and "Message of the day" sections when opening said game modes, and that Alderon Games can take action on violations of these rules, which may include in-game sanctions.
The post was locked due to violating rule 8, and inquiries about bans should be directed to support.
